My blog is 3 years today !! HAppy birthday eih mafeitz.blogspot.com :)
As far as I can remember , I've always enjoyed watching the merdeka celebrations on telly every 31st August morning. I don't think I've written about my memories about my involvement in the celebrations before. I had the opportunity to do so in the fourth form - I reckon the whole batch were "forced" by the school to join in the celebrations. I had my different opportunity ; we had to go for auditions - and I was one of the 7 selected as the RUKUNEGARA oath readers. For 50 years celebration this year , they had 50 on that stage.
Look for me !!!! haks..
they got my name and Fauzi's mixed up..
It was a memorable moment that i will cherish forever. I was so proud standing in front of the Dataran Merdeka royal stage seeing Agong n PM in front of my eyes - my very first close encounter.I cannot remember how nervous I was but I am sure it must have been majorly butterfly in the stomach because i remember going to the Dataran toilet ( which was then VERY DIRTYY !!! ) prior to our appointment !!
I think that was the last year we chanted DAULAT TUANKU x3 after the RUKUNEGARA oath reading. I was smirking in one of the salutes and it was caught on TV much to the dismay of my teachers in school !! hahahaha... Who would ever thought , that cynical smile was a prelude to the constitutional crisis that would erupt later ; thus Daulat Tuanku became a taboo ( in a way ) after that.
Megat in his brass band outfit representing SMS Selangor..
I'm blogging this out , so that one day Dzaeffran and Qaisya will read and see their walid standing really proud celebrating Malaysia's independence..
p/s My next Merdeka wish list was and still is to be one of the ones reciting Merdeka poetry in Dataran Merdeka. but first , I have to win the Sayembara !! How do I do that ? haks.. Anybody can help to make this dream a reality ??

Merdeka !! Merdeka !!
50 years of independence..
Disini lahirnya sebuah cinta
Andai ku terbuang tak diterima
Ku ingin kotakan seribu janji
Disini lahirnya sebuah cinta
Yang murni abadi sejati
Disini tersemai cita cita
Bercambah menjadi warisan
Andai ku terbuang tak diterima
Andai aku disingkirkan
Kemana harusku bawakan
Kemana harusku semaikan cinta ini
Betapa Dibumi ini ku melangkah
Keutara selatan timur dan barat
Ku jejaki
Aku Bukanlah seorang perwira
Gagah menjunjung senjata
Namun hati rela berjuang
Walau dengan cara sendiri
Demi cinta ini
Ku ingin kotakan seribu janji
Sepanjang kedewasaan ini
Ku ingin sampaikan pesanan
Aku lah penyambung warisan..

Malaysia 3 Myanmar 1 !! We are the champions !!
I was not there ; among the 40 , 000 Shah Alam crowd to witness our long awaited triumph. ( Wifey was sick , so i had to stay home and take care of my kids...had to decline Dil's offer to the stadium ) but , I was amongst the millions of Malaysians in front of the tele - cheering and jumping up and down during the game.It was full of suspense , drama and full of hope - and when it mattered the most ; our boys delivered.
The footie fans have waited for a long time to celebrate footie success. Though , few would argue it is just a tiny-weenyPestabola Merdeka Cup which has lost its value in the eye of the footballing world , it does not matter. The last time we won the Cup was 14 years back. We should be thankful for the hope that these young boys showed us ; a glimmer of future success. The boys should be proud and walk with pride ; because it did not come in a silver platter. They played hard and deserved it. We beat Singapore and Myanmar ; who had beaten us at ASEAN level for the past 10 years.
Kudos team Malaysia ; Congratulations... It is sweet for Malaysian football in the midst of its darkest hour. We delivered at least something to smile for in the eve of 50 years of MERDEKA !!

MAlaysia 3 SIngapore 1
Woohooo !! I was glad that i went with Dil to watch the MAlaysian boys play against the team on top form ; Singapore in Kelana Jaya MBPJ stadium last night. Its the semis of the Pestabola Merdeka and a must see game. I've never failed to watch the Malaysian team play on important tournaments. ( with exception of the Asia Cup recently ; no point watching our boys outclassed and whipped by China , Iran and Uzbekistan ) The change of venue certainly did not reflect the magnitude of the game which will be displayed.
It was against our old nemesis , and our boy's performance so far has not been that convincing as compared to the Singaporeans. but my my... When the referee blew his whistle to start the game , our players really went all out to win the game. The pitch was wet because of the downpour that followed . The Malaysian tigers who were in their uncharacteristic blue outfit clawed and injured the Young lions really bad. ( btw - why did we wear blue ? But i guess we've been winning in blue and never in our yellow black stripes so far in this tournament... )
It was nice to watch the boys play with passion and pride ; chasing every ball as if there is no tomorrow. Our attackers were fast and skillful , yet confident with the ball as the rush through forwards making impressive runs. The Singapore defence were in shambles ; trying to keep pace with our forwards. And our goals.. my god ; they were beautiful ; and the amount of shots on goal.. impressive and really made me jump of my seat again..and again.. And Dil was at his best; cheering his lungs out and "touchy" remarks to everybody's amazement !!! It was enjoyable.. truly was..
Syabas Malaysia !!!! And FINALS footie date on Wednesday ? Of course... :)
Bukit Gasing challenge ; taubat kah anda ?
I was contemplating earlier to continue with the race on Sunday because I did not want to leave wifey with Qaisya if she's ill. Alhamdulillah , over the night she was OK and back to her own cute ways !! :)
Mafiz and Edrin picked me up early and everybody was excited about the race. It had been quite some time since we did our last run. We were to meet Azad and Halim in PAdang Timur itself to collect our numbers. My training programme was disrupted for obvious reasons for the past few days and totally unprepared for what was to expect..
before the race
Although we had the course map with us for the past fortnight , never would i thought that the Bukit Gasing 11.6 km run turned out to be a real challenge !! haks... I would have thought this run was similar to any 10km run ; thus not as tough as i tought it would be. The gang even estimated the time to go back home at about 9am..
And we were off at 7.30am by Dato Donald Lim , PJ Utara MP. The whole group started running , and of course the earlier part of the route was going across Jalan Gasing to Bukit Gasing. It was uphill... up and up on the tar road... heks.. then we entered the "nature" route. Ok i said.. it should not be that bad ; And boy... was I wrong.
I ended up trekking rather than running through the course. It was more like my mountain trips rather than any typical run !! haks.. When it was uphill , my god! it was up and up and up... Few mat sallehs ran through me.. " PAssing through.... passing through... " yup , of course... please do... please do... I did not have the stamina nor the strength to follow their pace !! And then , it was downhill... ok , through the secunder forest it was. But mind you , it was not just one ! Up and down..up and down.. 5 hills i think !! haks.. It was certainly draining and exhausting ! The sight of the water station was a short acting motivation.. THe thought of we should have joined the 6.5km novice trail came into mind , but at the end of the day ; i was glad that we chose to take this track as it was really "memorable" !!!
success !!
My legs were killing me about 3 km from the finish line. It was at the meeting point between the end of the jungle trek and the tar road. It was cramping like mad ; a result of me not conditioning my physique for this challenge. I was literally walking as i could not run ; yet i cannot stop. If i do , my legs will go cramp big time and i may not be able to move at all in pain !!! Managed to push myself in the hot sun to arrive at the finish line , and of course ; the sight of it made the pain go away !!
Azad at the finish line
I arrived at the finish line at about 1010am ; thus my total time for that particular route 2 hr and 40 minutes. heks.. totally off from what we thought it would be. Mafiz was the first to arrive as he embraced me when i arrived at the finishing line . We then waited for Edrin and then Azad and Halim. It was blazing hot and i'm totally dark now !! haks.. It was worth it though as we were each awarded a medal for finishing the race .Certainly enough to make us grin from ear to ear !! haks..
p/s and to think that we were actually considering to join the Perhentian Island challenge which was held on the same day!!!! haks..

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder..
I've seen and managed it many times ; during my paeds house officership and locum. But you will only truly know how a parent feels when it happened to you.
Febrile seizure is something I'd warn my patients if they don't control their child's temperature well. It can be really traumatic and I am telling all of you , it is very traumatic even for me and especially ; who's educated and knows how to manage such condition.
Qaisya will turn 6 months next Tuesday..
When we picked qaisya up from the nursery on Wednesday evening , the carers told us that she was not feeling well ; a bit of temperature late afternoon. We took Qaisya back , and did the normal tepid sponging with PCM . Compared to Dzaeff , she recovers better with her 2 - 3 previous fever episodes that she had. She's a good baby where she seems to be so cool about her condition and not too irritated.
We gave her the last PCM dose at 10pm that night , her temperature was a mere 37.5 ( borderline fever ) and she immediately went to sleep after that. We had the wet piece of cloth on her forehead to cool her down. I was fast asleep by midninght but wifey was still awake doing some work. At about 2 am , wifey heard Qaisya's leg bracelet shaking and she immediately went to her court. To her surprise , Qaisya was fitting ; eyeballs uprolling with a generalized shaking of both hands and feet.
She panicked and shouted out loud to wake me up.
I was still dozy at that time and looked for the suppository PCM for her and at the same time asking wifey to stay calm and sponge her down. Wifey was in a severe panic state that she started to blow the baby ( ie mouth to mouth ) as she saw qaisya turning blue. I quickly inserted the medicine and auscultated her.. Her heart rate was racingly high > 180 per minute and her lungs were fairly clear. The episode lasted for only 30 seconds but my god , how long it felt seeing your baby in such despair. Qaisya became very lethargic ( post ictal drowsiness ) but wifey was crying in pain. Seeing her baby fitting in front of her eyes certainly dropped her heart down so low that she felt desperately useless.
We quickly brought her to the hospital at 3 am , and a friend of mine was on duty in the emergency. He advised for admission as she was still not 6 months and by right , no febrile seizure should occur before 6 months old. The main thing to rule out is meningitis which can be detrimental.
Qaisya woke up then , and cried out irritably . She looked lethargic and Zaqrul quickly inserted IV access to run in fluids for my baby. We were warded to the paediatric ward and was reassessed again ; as qaisya was obviously hungry. She was clinically assessed and the specialist thought that it may just be a simple febrile fit and not meningitis , and even lumbar puncture was witheld.
There was no more fits after that episode , eventhough Qaisya did not look really well. She was still sick and she started coughing . Then again , her cough was not normal ; sounding a lot like croup. She was however never breathless and her lungs were always clear on auscultation.
We were discharged within 24 hours ; though Qaisya has not fully recovered. I was not happy though with the nursing and management as i thought it was crap! ( I will not go into the details ; but this was my observation compared to my previous hospitals.. ) LUckily wifey and I were on leave ; therefore we were more confident of nursing her at home . ( imagine , wifey had to crawl into the baby's court to sleep as there was no bed prepared for her. It was not about the fascilities, but more of the attitude and work ethics which i find it to be really really pathetic )
Both wifey and I are still in the state of shock ; worried if she might fit again. 2am the next morning was an agony , neither of us were asleep then because of the trauma.
Qaisya is slowly recovering back to her old self. Her feeding is improving and we are praying that it is just a minor infection. She's smiling back at me this morning and I am glad that she is recovering.
Thank you to Zaqrul for taking care of her in our most desperate hour. Thank you to those who came to visit , in the hospital and back home and please do pray for her to recover well.

Sedar diri bang...
72%How Addicted to Blogging Are You?Hmmm..need to cut down.. I have 85 days to my exams...
Beautiful event
I would like to thank you to all who came to both mine and Azam's daugther's aqiqah on Sunday afternoon. Its qaisya's second potong jambul ( more hair being cut !! ) - this one held at my mother in-law's place in DJ. Both of them , Qaisya and Alana looked very elegant and beautiful ; while the group reciting marhaban and verses from Quran.
We started a bit early though ; the time planned was maybe after 10 to about 11 am. However , the marhaban group from Al Ghuffran came at 9.30 am and nobody was ready !! Dzaeffran , Qaisya and Alana had not taken their bath yet ! Wifey was worst ; she was still in her pyjamas !! Obviously everybody panicked and rushed to sort out the kids and that stalled the ceremony for a bit. Otherwise , i think we could have finished earlier !!
Of course , Dzaeff had his own plans and executed his antiques that drew laughter from the crowd ! His mouthful curry puff stunt had everyone in stitches and I had to rescue him and bring him off the centre stage. The food was excellent and I did not waste the opportunity to indulge the roast lamb ; really really melantak !! hahahahahaha...
I was knackered at the end of the event ; especially when everybody has gone back , it was up to the men to bring in the sofas and furnitures inside. I enjoyed the event very much and millions of thanx to my mother in law for organizing such a beautiful event.

Gasing yang berpusing..
IN due of the upcoming race , Azad initiated a "training" session on Sunday morning in BUkit Gasing to familiarised the route that we were going to participate in in a fortnight's time.We started early and were already climbing the Gasing hill by 8am. Mind you , its not the Bukit gasing where we used to "skodeng" people during our school days ( A very popular spot woo.. ) but the recreational forest behind it which surprisingly was huge !!
It was a nice "denai" route and i did enjoy it eventhough we only covered maybe half of the whole trail. We managed to climb the watch tower which has covered a good view of Gasing Hill peak and its surrounding ! Honestly , i never knew about the place till today .. Have heard of it , in the papers and tv ( especially after the uproar recently as it will be developed.. you know the Save the Earth plea... ) and no wonder the residents want to preserve of what we currently have now !!

Stress response
Swordfish is on tv .. certainly one of my alltime favourites..
And for you movie buffs ;
Remember the scene from the earlier part of the movie when Hugh Jakeman was forced to hack the Dept of Defense's website ?
He was then tested by working "under stress" literally ...
PASSWORD ACCEPTED..
If performance is maximally enhanced in such conditions , would my conjoint board allow it in my exams ? heks..

Mission impossible
Having to cramp a lifetime worth of knowledge in two weeks is a very tall order. In a way , this intensive course was designed as a revision tool to know what you don't know before the exams in November. And maaannn... the deficiency can be very obvious !!!
Splurting your knowledge out is certainly different from reading and digesting the things that you read. Being able to tell others clearly what the definition , explanation and the answers to fairly simple questions is definitely challenging. More of it being physiology ; where the principles you present will be challenged upon presenting it. And the skill to say the right thing and the right time is certainly valuable and needs lots of practice !!
At times , the lectures given can be mind draining ; trying to squeeze one's 30 year old brain to digest all the important facts is very difficult. And of course the cruncher , when the invited lecturer decided to break the monotonous mood...
" Ok... Let me see... any volunteers to answer my next question ?? "
And just like old times in school , everone will look down to the floor as if looking for something !!!! Hahahahahaha...

Come on.. get up !!
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

Different view..
It is just refreshing to laze about at your favourite spot at home...
I think Dzaef is starting to follow what his dad does ....
QC KO
It has been raining heavily these past few days , and my power window ; which at one time was OK suddenly broke down.. I was unable to lower any of my car window.. wtf ???
And yes.. I own a PROTON... and it is about 1.5 years old..
Hmmm.. maybe the downpour somehow short circuited my fuse ;- test it at home.. don't think its the fuse. Otherwise , every other electric dependant functions were ok except for my power window.
Brought to my favourite ah beng workshop to check. He meddled.. and meddled.. and looked very puzzled. For about half an hour !!!
" Abang.. kita mau check lagi la... maybe 3 4 jam ka.."
"Wah.. lamanya !! Nanti apa kena tukar karang ?? "
"Takda..bukan.. sume barang ok takda rosak ! ni skrg kena check itu wayar..tak tau mana ada putus.. "
" Putus ?? camana bule putus.. ?? "
" Proton maahhh.... "
True enough , he managed to locate the point where the circuit was not complete !! And his diagnosis was right.. and that was the first time I;ve heard and encountered wiring problem in a fairly new car!!!!
