3-3 draw with Korea full team

Malaysia 3- Korea 3

The match may not have any bearing to the Asia Cup as we were already out from advancing, but it was the best match of the prem rounds.
It was the game we saw what we can really do. The spirit was extra special and we persevered from the word go. Players did their best and its all what we fan wants. And to draw with the ranked 23rd in the world is an absolute dream. Ball for ball. Until the very last minute.
Truly amazing- courage and determination was shown with full commitment from all the players.

We will come back Harimau Malaya!!

The hard real truth Asia Cup 2024

We just had our first match yesterday. I stayed up to watch this game as I reckon it should not be missed. The hype around the team was good a d I guess everybody would have loved a fairy tale story for our Harimau Malaya.Hari ni oncall koyak!! Mengantuk gile😆😆
Unfortunately we lost 4-0. The media in a way is starting to bash them and coach KPG. He did play a weird formation yesterday - the gamble did not pay off as expected. Honestly, we were unlucky to concede the first 2 goals. The first was a long rsnge curved show which was world class. Gile top corner. I dont think any goalkeeper could have saved that one. Another was a soft penalty conceded.. and via VAR. According to our asian standard, takde nye penalty but yeah it was a bitter moment to bite.
Physically we did try to challenge then but what was obvious was the speed of the Jordanians. Hence the continuing struggle against middle east team is still there.
We have 2 more games- tougher games. Against higher ranking teams - Bahrain and the mighty south korea. Please bros.. play your best! Takut jadi whipping boys of Asia Cup 2024.

Harimau Malaya’s mission in Asia Cup 2024!

If one reads on my posts over the years, you could see how much my passion is for Harimau Malaya. Whenever the games were played in Malaysia, I would definitely try to go to the stadium for the games! Support boh jangan tak support!

Alhamdulillah, after 40 years plus we have qualified via merit for this year’s Asia Cup edition. True we were last in the tourney in 2007 where we were joint host - but we were the whipping boys then.

The current team looks quite good and in their games under our Squid Games’ coach we have earned the respect of peers in the asian continent. Players are all decent- of course having “warisan” and naturalised players can be fairly controversial but as mentioned by Dato Hamidin, FIFA allows this hence why should we not utilize it to increase the performance of our team?

I am truly excited to see Harimau Malaya in action. They have the potential to be Asian challengers and I am confident with the current moral of the team.

Kemon Malaysia!!

Malam Puisi Kemanusian 2023

This event is evolving into a yearly affair. It started off 2 years ago - end of 2021 when Dr Alza roped us healthcare workers in to pen amd perform poetry. The 2022 event was online and the theme was definitely our tribute to HCW’s sacrifice during the intense Covid19 pandemic.
.
Early this year we did our first to face session in HKL. It was a great event meeting all the guys. Being self run, there were lots of technical issues that cropped up during this event. Ita defintely not easy to synchronize live on online session concurrently. One needs an event director who knows what both side wants and bring about to a similar tv shows programme to live. Nevertheless, the sporting spirit of all participants and audience which made it enjoyable
My piece on both years I wrote with P Ramlee theme. The first was “kadang-kadang” from Nujum Pak Belalang and 2nd was “Cobaan” from Pendekar Bujang Lapok😆
            Fellow talented HCWs
With HOS Anaesthesia & Dr Hana
                    Dr Hafiz EP HKL
We’ll have another one soon early 2024. I will have to find ideas for my new piece with P Ramlee theme😊

We should be thankful how peaceful Malaysia is

It was not just Afghanistan news making the headlines in international news. Malaysia had her own share with the immediate news after the Afghan Taliban takeover. Our political turmoil is legendary. Since we voted in 2018, we have had 3 governments! 1 vote equals to 3 governments they say! Certainly worth it ! haha The famous Langkah Sheraton 2020 has now been takeover by deceit and treachery politics ( the way i see it) when all sides are trying to play out each other. At the end of the day I must symphatize PM tepi as again, with the downfall of TSMY - he is still not the PM.
Who would have thought, Pak Long Mail - the ever loving character that tells us about all sorts of SOP and the PKs is no the Prime Minister of Malaysia. I reckon nobody would have predicted this in a thousand years. Names like Anwar Ibrahim, Hishamuddin or KJ would be in everybody's mind but I guess its Ismail Sabri's rezeki to be the PM of Malaysia.
I guess opportunity goes to those who knocks it, right time right place. Of course it looks stupid, when after all the ruckus and political manouvers; at the end of the day the Deputy Prime Minister of the previous government ousted is now the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Macam tu je. haha
In contrast with what is happening in Afghanistan, there's no life loss or bloody tragedies. But our economy now is bleeding hence we definitely need a miracle strategy to rise from the effects of Covid pandemic which is nearing to its second year soon.
At the end of the day, politicians are politicians. It is about power. Never about the country or idealism that they claim to uphold. It is proven so much in this power tussle from both the government and the opposition side. Sama je. I'm sure a lot of Malaysians dah menyampah and getting sick of the fiasco. However, we tend to be very forgivable too hence I do not see any possible "rakyat" revolution that will come about because of what had just happened. we are different from our neighbours. I always believe this results from the creation of majoritily middle class in our society.
Welcome DS Ismail Sabri, the 9th Prime Minister of Malaysia... but how long will he be one?

Salam Merdeka Malaysia ke 63!

To all my readers out there ( honestly i dont think people read blogs anymore.. haha especially the erratic ones like mine nowadays!)
MALAYSIA DI HATI!!
Since the MCO has been extended till the end of 2020, i would reckon there will be no more overseas trip for me this year! Luckily had mine in January and February...
But Insha Allah, there will be summit to be reached in 2020 :)

2020.. it has been very colorful so far

Its March now and it has been a hell of new decade! Who would have thought a sudden game of throne power struggle and in the end the most unlikely candidate became the Prime Minister of Malaysia? :) or we were made to think that way?

On another point, the COVID-19 has really took the world by storm. Since January- that has been the talking point and one can imagine at this time of human civilization we are under a virus threat. Its not just medical related issues but the economy as well. Things are looking gloomy and as China having to take the biggest hit make us wonder as well whether this was deliberate? *Conspiracy theory again*

On a personal note which I hope to blog soon enough before I forget the details would be my trip to Aconcagua. I literally celebrated the new year 2020 in South America and a lot  happened during the expedition.. Alhamdulillah I am glad that I am still alive to tell the tale :)

Its only March and I guess there is a lot of uncertainties in the coming months. May Allah bless us all.

Qatar November 2018 trip

I was in Doha in late November for a short course in ECMO. It was nice to spend holiday with the family in a place where not everybody would view it as a holiday destination.
The best time to go to the middle east would definitely be during Winter. I did enjoy my time there :)

DIAgnosis I : Lets go to Indonesia!

Insha Allah, this Saturday we will be launching the semi-translated DIAgnosis2 in Jakarta. Alhamdulillah, for the opportunity for us to try our luck there. It is never easy to breakthrough their market, but as the philosophy of the book goes, Yang menentukan adalah DIA. Du'a for us, all :)

Perjuangan Ultras Malaya #ultrasmalaya

The mass media is playing the blame game on the Ultras for their brave act in Stadium Shah Alam the other night. I would have been in the stadium if not for an emergency case that came up last minute despite planning to attend the calling by Ultras for true fans to show their strut. I am disappointed with the media who are trying their best to show the so called EVIL amongst this batch of Malaysia supporters. I am sure the ultras bashing is being orchestrated by the powers up there: obviously the one funding them .. periuk nasi maah..
All Malaysia football fans were angry, dismayed by the poor performance of the team in the last few games. Of course the pinnacle was the 10-0 drubbing by UAE. Everybody knows the root of the problem which have been breeding for years; and being let to rut. It is unfortunate for Dollah Salleh to inherit the title of the WORST MALAYSIAN COACH ever with our heavy defeats to Oman, Palestin with 6-0 each and the UAE tragedy.
ULTRAS did what they had to do. There was no other way or SALURAN to use as it has been exhausted and not being taken seriously by the authorities.
Perhaps it was over the top, but HOW ELSE BRO? How else to make the whole nation realize how bad the situation is at the moment.
The media is trying to brainwash the public of how embarrassing to have the ULTRAS around.. but HONESTLY, I AM MORE EMBARRASSED with our LOST to PALESTIN.. C/mon.. PALESTIN? A turmoiled country and we lost to them. 10-0? WAAAHH.. Memang standard SAN-MARINO..ANDORRA.
ARE WE THAT BAD? WHAT HAPPENED?
I am a keen Malaysia football fan and as much as possible will try to be at our team games despite their mediocrity at times, even though the games were played with only a scarce number of fans. You can check out my previous entries about Malaysia team and i will continue to support despite us being in the lowest pit of quality at the moment.
Ultras Malaya has brought a new dimension to the supporting crowd of the national team. It used to be very boring and only full of swearing by the crowd. At times everybody would cheer and sing to the tune of Inilah Barisan kita. But since it has the word Barisan, few are not too happy to sing and clap with it anymore... haha
Ultras would chant.. and sing..and dance for the whole game. Before and especially after the game. They will continue giving their support and I've NEVER seen them jeered the National team players during the game. The crowd used to boo certain players from the likes of Zainal Abidin Hassan to Khalid Jamlus. The worst was when KJ brought MYTEAM to play Malaysia. That was a purely CIRCUS game! Perhaps KJ had the same sentiment against the FAM admins as he was the Deputy President then. He must have realized something had to be changed and organized the circus. That was the saddest moment when our players in the traditional national colours were booed by the crowd and only a handful of us cheered the National team. Imagine if ultras were around then..
Ultras best moment? The electrifying legendary moment of AFF 2014 finals in Bukit Jalil. They did the parade and made the whole stadium in awe with their support and chants. Whoever was present in the SSBJ would witness to the best of support in our lifetime. It certainly made the players fired up for the game and despite losing, NEVER did the ultras bowed away from supporting till the very end.
AND THE MEDIA ARE PERSECUTING THEM TO THE GUILLOTINE?
KAMONLAH MEDIA.. Jangan makan suap!! Where is your integrity?

To the ULTRAS, Please continue to show your support to Harimau Malaya. You've made the difference to all national team suppporters out there. Sapa yang banyak komen tu confirm not those who goes to the stadium..Wannabees who only support the national team when we are winning which defines them as not true supporter.

Selamanya HARIMAU MALAYA.

We won.. but we lost.. and the fans were superbly winners! #AFFSuzukiCup2014

To quote a friend of mine,
"I've been to many world cups, champions league, EPL, Ajax games, el classicos, but what i experience in Bukit Jalil last night was out of this world! Kudos to the Ultras!!" IFRW

I have to concur. I've not been to as many games as him though (he is one serious hardcore supporter I can tell you that, seram woo.. haha) but I've been to as many Malaysia's game in the past.I've blogged most of my Malaysia experience in the past. But what transpired last Saturday in SNBJ- was simply breath taking and i can say that I am proud to be a supporter! Harimau Malaya selamanya!
I was with Shah, Kamal and Shah's MA. We were all from the same vicinity (Bukit Jelutong). We took the LRT option. Some smart aleck told us it would be easier for us to go back home if we park in Salak South. Ok la.. why not, trusted friend, sounds good. Unfortunately upon arriving at the station we realized that it was the same line! hahaha Only one and the one on the opposite side would be Sri Petaling! There is no way though to park in Sri Petaling!! haha wakenabeb bcoz in the end our friend drove there instead of parking in Salak South !
The LRTS were jammed packed. Memang penuh! It was 4pm and we had to squeeze our bodies into the LRT carriage. The spirit and hope was there. Malaysians came in droves from all generations. Atok bawa cucu, balak bawa awek, nenek bawa cougar.. hahaha macam2! I love this feeling of positivity. All of us knew we lost to Thailand 2-0 earlier but somehow we knew we may overcome the deficit.
The parade was damn cool. Mega Cortez they call it and reminded me a lot of Dutch Army when we were in Marseille 1998. The atmosphere was electrifying eventhough it was raining. Nobody cared about the rain. It was definitely 100 000 supporters in Bukit Jalil that day if not more. Everybody was optimistic and was looking forward for the game.
Inside the stadium, it was superbly goosebumps all over. The ultras were chanting and singing all their might, and the non ultras followed in style. The atmosphere was electrifying! The Thais must have been worried for their players as the noise can certainly affects ones spirit and determination. We were the ultra docs! 10 of us..all clinical specialists together in tandem reliving our youth. At the same time, supporting our national team to win this cup! It was possible despite seemed impossible :) This was definitely not present previously. Paling kuat pun gendang and inilah barisan kita. Nowadays, Ultras will chant few songs to the delight of the crowd.. again and again! All the time! One other difference i see from the past is the number of people performing prayers. in the 80/s and 90s you hardly see anybody praying before the game but nowadays it is a common sight. Sapa yang tak sembahyang tu sure terasa nye.. sahabat syaitankah mereka.. hahaha
When we were up 3-0 courtesy of Safiq Rahim' David Beckham style of freekick, the crowd went wild! Who would have thought we were winning despite the setback! The dream was real! The supporters felt the fairy tale will end with the neding that we wanted! 10 more minutes guys.. 10 more minutes!! Everybody was singing and chanting! Happily together in the stadium atmosphere.. Im sure the players down there did not expect it as well.
It was not meant to be. The thais fought back and scored 2. Our hearts sank.. really low when the 2nd goal was scored. But somehow we continued to cheer our team. We saw our team played thier might but perhaps the Thais were the better team. We cheered till the end and when the referee blew the final whistle, then it was to the Thais. The thais won the cup.
We won the game 3-2 but we lost via aggregate, 4-3 because of their earlier win in Bangkok. We were shattered but funnily as compared to the games we lost in the past, the fans were happy. Happy because they saw how we lost. Kalah bermaruah. And i guess as fans that is what we wanted to see. The display of courage and fighting spirit. We saw that. The nation saw that.
To the ultras, you've created a different atmosphere for supporter who comes to the stadium. It makes the experience totally euphoric and exciting. One can have the comfort of home watching live on telly, but the goosebumps you get at the stadium is totally out of this world!
Kudos Malaysia!
Kudos Dollah!
Kudos Ultras!
and Kudos to all Malaysia fans in SNBJ that night :)

THe agony of losing #AFFSuzukiCup2014

The hype was extraordinary. The hope was lightened up again. We Malaysians were looking forward again to the romance of 2010. The win against Singapore last week was in a way unexpected but fits to the chapters in a fairy tale. Malaysians were up in full arms supporting Harimau Malaya! Looking back, the win against Singapore was probably a charade, disguising truth about the quality of the current squad.
I was not willing to risk going to the stadium yesterday because I was oncall. It would be a tragedy if i wwas to be called during the game as there will be no way that i can go to the hospital stat. So there i was with my kids in TTDI watching the game.
Few of my colleagues were in the stadium. Witnessing the comeback of a full filled stadium, all in tandem supporting the national team for greatness.Seeing the fans all out especially the Ultra Malayas is exhilarating. I am proud to be a Malaysian when seeing all this in front of me. All the team had to do was show how worthy they are to the hardcore supporters. The current squad had the core of team 2009-2012 anyway, how else can it go wrong?
The truth was, Vietnam was the better team both in their system and tactically. They were more composed and confident. We were lucky to get the penalty but our game play did not reflect our status as semi-finalist.
We succumbed to the Vietnamese. 2-1. But credit to the players who played their best, just that their best is not standard enough to win this cup. Syafiq's penalty was as cool as a cucumber, superbly classy and oozed with confidence. I wished that our defence had more confidence in themselves in last night's game.
The next leg will be in Hanoi. I will continue to root for our team. Wishful thinking of winning in Hanoi? Why not ? Asian football is about living the fairy tale and the standard amongst us is not much difference. Perhaps, playing at home seemed to created more pressure for the players more than playing away.
Ayuh Harimau Malaya.. we are behind you!!

Eidul Adha with the family

Both of our families are in KL, so far there has never been a time this was an issue. I could go to both in the same day, its just that perhaps it has been a while since we last slept in TTDI.
We spent the raya night in DJ, and i guess ita the kids that make such festivities alive. Having all 5 growing up together can be fun and stressful at times. Their antiques will certainly blow you away and you would forgive them easily.Ayman was around so i guess he would himself appreciate the presence of 5 young kids running around here and there. I can't imagine when he is old enough to play with the rest
In the afternoon, we were off to TTDI as it was promised that way. The menu was BBQ raya and a cake was prepared to celebrate Doya, Mutee and Mikochi. It was fun to have them around and i could not understand why Mutee was not there. He has finished his studies and i thought we should be seeing the more of him.
It was a simple affair but meaningful. I did not have my raya celebrations this year and what transpired this time around was enough for me. Insha Allah, with more rayas to come, the kids will grow and appreciate the gatherings as how i missed the mass gatherings we had in Muar when i was younger.

Kilimanjaro song

Honestly, since coming back i could not erase this song of my mind. A fun song, with fun lyric that sticks in my hums wherever I am! It was the song before we trek off from Shira Camp and Baranco camp. The guides and porters were good fun people as we danced and clapped to the rhythm and followed the song! And both times, we continued with our Malaysian Rasa Sayang!
Those moments were certainly dear to this trip.. a memorable one to be remembered for life.

SWAHILI

Daulat Tuanku! Sultan Nazrin Muizzudin Shah.. Alfatihah to Sultan Azlan

Sultan Azlan Shah passed away on the 27th of May. It was indeed a sad day as he will always be known to be our most educated Agong/Sultan. Which other traditional ruler has achieved the status of Lord of Justice? Memang power.. I have known from my sources that he has been ill for quite sometime. 2 Consultants in IJN received their datukship just last month for their efforts in handling Tuanku.
1993 Pidato Piala Diraja finals in Pusat Islam was my distant memory of my encounter with him, then the Yang di Pertuan Agong of Malaysia. Eventhough i did not win the national title, but it was such an honour.. while eagerly chasing him to get his autograph;
"Ampun tuanku.. i would be grateful if you could sing your autograph on your picture?" me showing the official finals souvenir book.
"Most certainly.." he answered.
Obviously we were in the middle of the walk way, there were no tables in sight.I was like.. ok, so what now.. hahaha I guess it was the unspoken silence which then triggered tuanku to suggest something!
" Young man.. turn around" Tuanku said.
Tuanku used my back to sign the autograph and of course, i had my photographer (another contestant) to snap the superbly kodak moment!!
Perhaps.. I was maybe the only person who managed to get Almarhum Tuanku to sign his autograph on my back!!!!!
Alfatihah..

SIGRA in ANZCA meeting Singapore 2014

It was a proud moment for SIGRA when we were invited to be part of the pre congress faculty in the regional anaesthesia workshop. The opportunity was important for SIGRA to show how we are recognised in terms of teaching and sharing the knowledge of RA.
 Matt Doane : the coordinator
It was a crazy outing because the whole group came for the workshop only (haha kemut ANZCA ni). All were busy and we were just too busy to hang around in Singapore. Most of us flew in and flew out later during the day. it was tiring but fulfiling and i certainly enjoyed the exposure!
