Nature high

I was itching for an outdoor trip.Missing Gunung Lebah last weekend was the trigger upon seeing their pictures and reading their adventures. Therefore , when ACong ( One of OGKL stalwarts) suggested a day trip to Nuang ; I immediately succumbed to the idea. Azad was also thinking ( great minds think alike !! ) and of course two heads made it a reality ! Shakti then sms'ed me for a Chilling trip ; i immediately suggested him to follow us and he said OK. However I have locum at 5pm , after a lengthy discussion I decided to just go halfway which is up to Lolo camp. I wished I had gone further up and reach the summit but there was no way for me to be back by 5pm. Takpe la.. janji LEPAS GIAN BRO... hahahaha

We met up with ACong and his Maybank team at the Cheras Petrol Station opposite Maktab Latihan Polis. We were fairly early and by 730am we met Muzammil n gang in Batu 18 for an early breakfast. Azad asked Muzammil why that particular stall , he answered ..Ade kaler oren... hahahaha.. ( private joke )

We started our trek at 9am . I must say that the balak trek was punishing but the morning was kind to us. It rained earlier and there was still fog all over. It was cooling and we did not feel the strain so much. Besides that , the training and running I did for the past one month really helped that I was not really taxed walking uphill.

Entrance

Take 5
We arrived at Lolo camp after 2 hours of trekking and we straight away jumped into the river. The water was very cold but it was very refreshing. Putting your neck and shoulder against the small waterfall was a delight and released whatever stress there was prior to the trip. I sat down quitely in the river ; listening to the stream rippling against the rocks and waaahhh... it was nature at its best. The trip was really worth it upon reaching here. I felt so good and relaxed. Its that rush which I guess only outdoor enthusiast can justify. Logically , why should one sacrifice one's Saturday or Sunday tiring out and being in an uncomfortable state ? I dunno but I love it !

Half of the group trekked up towards Nuang and I know they will enjoy their success reaching the beirut. Me , Shakti and Azad headed home after 40 minutes in the river. I wished that I was able to continue to conquer Nuang but i guess today was not the day. Well ,takpelah.. I was happy and delighted with the trip. I enjoyed it very much with the presence of good company ! Thank you brothers for organizing and enjoying the trek with me !!
" I am not gay... " hahahahah

One corner

I am holding tha CRASH pager today till 12 am, so far it looks Ok but never say never right ? hahaha ICU looks cool and there are no havoc scenes as yet ; therefore the reason for me to fly off to cyber space to fill in my time. I still have my Wednesday CME presentation to finalise ; but that can wait .. :)

I received a strong comment for my previous post . Wahh.. there are serious people out there reading my blog , interesting !! hahahaha Well , i suppose in this new era of Malaysian society , we should be free to express ourselves. It is good to have people commenting intellectually about what we think , and only with that we will grow.

Agree tak agree lain cerita... hahahaha

Its getting hotter

Read this article in Malaysia-today regarding one specialist overseas undermining the locally trained clinical ( medical and surgical ) specialists.

I really don't understand why we view foreign exams as the nirvana ; we should work to get our local training recognized and it is more relevant to our setting. In the UK , it is no more the exams but CSST ( Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training ) which will confirm one as a trained Specialist . In the near future , passing the royal college exams will not be the requirement to qualify for CSST.

He made few accusations :

"Anyone who has been an examiner at these 'Masters Program' examinations will attest to the fact that the standard of English of these 'Masters Specialist graduates' not only borders on the atrocious, but the aptitude of the candidates is equally petrifying. Examiners however are instructed in no uncertain terms that the passing numbers must be closer to 100% rather then the 20 to 30% practiced by the Royal Colleges. If any of these 'Masters' candidates 'fail', lo and behold , the concerned examiner will be called up for an explanation and if he is a foreign examiner, well, it may be his last paid holiday to Malaysia."

Well , standard of English depends on where the doctor came from ; I suppose he was aiming to the Malays more than the non malays. But it is about the knowledge and practice that the doctor can deliver ; and it crosses language barrier. Any examiner would understand that concept.

" Some universities such as USM and UKM are popular because 'passing' is assured by the same techniques made available during SPM/PMR exams where examination questions are made available to candidates prior to actual examinations through various 'tutorials'

Interesting.. I would love to see his evidence.

"Lop sided churning out of 100% passes at USM and UKM were getting so obvious that 'Conjoint Boards' between the three universities had to be set-up to reduce bias. However this has not gone down well with certain universities who claim, 'Chinese examiner fails Malay candidate. Therefore Malay candidate must be examined only by Malay examiner with 'friendly' external examiner from India. Otherwise, Malay examiner will start failing Chinese candidate'. This nonsense has gotten so bad that candidates who wise up usually will spend a little more and sit for the postgraduate examinations held by the Royal Colleges simultaneously
"

Rumours or written reports ? He should get testimonials before putting this down for public viewing. 10 lies make it true !

Though he may have few points to his side with regards to the Government policy , it is not something new. It is not breaking ground news. But to question the universities , I do urge that the UM/UKM/USM Deans to come out and answer these allegations. It is the integrity of our institution at stake and for somebody to come and bullet out such ammunition is atrocious.

P/S I wanted to write my comments on the article feed ; but i am not registered as Malaysia-today member ! Hahaha.. Just registered and i hope to be able to contribute in the intellectual discourse.

Who's talking orange ?

When you are crazy , you do stupid things.. all in the name of glory !! Hahahaha . I will not repeat what i did today in the future.. but it was fun !
I registered for Orange Run quite some time back through Wan Edrin. I totally forgot about it when we were doing my roster and it is not a good idea to be on call the day before a RUN..
I only slept like 2 - 3 hours , interruptedly and rushed to the Curve with my fingers crossed that my patients would not collapse by the time I'm gone from ICU at 7.
I broke rule no 1 before a race : REST ADEQUATELY
Then , as i was rushing i broke rule no 2 : HAVE A GOOD BREAKFAST BEFOREHAND and i only drank plain mineral water which I will tell you later when it became significant !

I broke rule no 3 : Get your numbers ready before race day. Edrin was holding my number and I was a bit late and IT BECAME REALLY KELAM KABUT. I invited Kamal to join us because i thought Edrin registered for Azad. but hehehe.. he did not !! Somehow , neither of us had Ruslan and Halim's number ; so their numbers were with me and the announcer was telling all participants to be ready. There was a bit of panic. I decided to give my number to Kamal ( self sacrifice tu.. hahaha ) and since Ruslan was nowhere to be found ; I took his number. Therefore I am the officially ; PELARI HANTU !!! hahahaha.. A is for veterans above 45 , and i dunno whether i fit into that look... hahahaha.
Suddenly the gun was fired and gile kelam kabut as Edrin was pinning my number and we all just ran without warming up which was rule no 4 !!! Well , the show has to go on right ? So we continued the run , i was feeling fatigued already because of my lack of sleep ; it was more of the mind rather than the body because initially i did not pant and ran at my own pace.
2 km and suddenly i had the urge to micturate. DAMN ! Macam KL marathon hari tu.. hahaha luckily it was not my tummy this time. I was looking if i could just go to the side but it was open space all the way! It was so bad because my bladder was really full and i had to just let it go ! It was the 500ml of mineral water i drank in the car. Then there was this mamak shop.. and i ran towards it very fast ! I had to go !! hahahaha When the crowd saw me heading towards mamak they clapped and cheered !! hahaha the workers were very nice to me and showed me the way to salvation.. and Aaaahhhhh... nikmat... hahahaha

I continued my run and it was good. It was drizzling and the weather was just permitting. I was pacing myself , not too fast because i don't want to hurt my legs as it did not have enough rest during the call. I ran passed this fella who looked familiar , but he had his number on ! As i passed him.. hahhahaha it was Ruslan and isaid hi to him.H and Halim e came early and they had plan B ; that is to reregister ! Nad i was the living proof of our HANTU culture !! hahahaha
I met Stupe too near the first water station. Waahh.. bodynya ampuh pak.. hahaha He was certainly having fun doing this run and taking pictures of his friends :) Wafi has also became a permanent member in races that I've joined this year. I saw Ezad and his cool runnings team too ; as enthusiastic as ever !
I was not up to go all out in this run because of I was tired to begin with. However , it was a good run and i was not that fatigue with muscle cramps free at the end . It was fun and I know Kamal ,Ruslan and Halim are keen to continue this new "age" activity! HOLA ORANGE RUN !!!

Registry

I was browsing through the net , looking for materials for my research when i discovered this in the MMC web page. ( Malaysia Medical Council ).
We have our Malaysian doctors registry online !! Fuiiyoo.. kira dah advance tu ! I don't know when they started this but it was not publicised and i never knew about it. Its really cool. Therefore , any tom , dick and harry can check on their doctors whether they are registered with the MMC or not ! Its very easy , just search the name and if it is there ; it means that they are certified doctors and not bogus ones !
Its a good tool for us doctors to look for our old acquantaince ; they publish the APC ( practice licence ) and we know where they are working in Malaysia now. Kudos KKM !!

Top of the hill

It was good to be able to play badminton again. I had to miss it for the past 2 weeks because of my call. It was minimal attendance but the workout was good. Kamal is back for good from UK and he of course enjoyed the company. Me and Azad went jogging in between the games played ; i suppose the euphoria of running is still high !
Unfortunately I had to miss the Gunung Lebah trip tomorrow which Azad will be joining due to personal reasons. I wished that i had registered for it and it must be really soothing to be on top of the mountain. Such solace and beauty .. hmm.. i can;t go last minute as well because I will be on call again on Saturday ; and the working conditions in UMMC will be tougher in this second half of the month. Mainly due to the shortage of staff who'll be on leve because of exams.
I still have the Orange Run on Sunday morning at the Curve ! It'll be just 9km ; and like last year i know this run will be fun ! I dunno how i will be fully energized to do the run after the 24 hours on call ? hahahaha.. bila dah gila.. memang makin gile !!

"Do you really think that you will enter Paradise without such trials as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, 'When will come the Help of Allah?' Yes, certainly the Help of Allah is near!" [Quran 2:214]

Stuffin it out

I wish I can tell the world why I am not in the right kind of mood to blog my usual blog ramblings. I don't usually tell my problems to people and so far I've managed to seal it well in me. This has always been my way but maybe it is too much for me to handle this time around. It is very complicated and dealing with someone who is stubborn and deaf can be really annoying. How do you penetrate the unshakable belief which is totally outrageous and nonsense ? How true can truth be when it is ?

Subhanallah...

Post euphoria

It was back to reality today ; not the April Fool but I am back in ICU. I had no choice but to be here this month. The department is collapsing because a big number of MOs will be on study leave and the last 2 weeks of April will be hell ! Ni yang tak seronok ni.. Well, ICU is not that bad though , no premeds and you know what time you will go back everyday..

On another note , I'm having a headache as well organizing the dinner. Its this tiny weeny stuffs which is bugging me. I've yet to have an MC , the door gifts and Lucky draw prizes !! On top of that , the surprise performance I'm planning with my colleagues , the video show.. and those are the reasons why i am not asleep yet !

KLIM2008 experience

I woke up at 4 am , ate my power bar and went straight of to Edrin's place. Called him when i arrived at his apartment and he certainly missed the alarm! Luckily i was early , so i was able to wait for him to get ready without being tight up. We parked the car near the Tang Ling famous nasi lemak stall area ; quite a distance away to walk to Dataran but it has been our tradition to park there !

I was alone to do the 21k. I had to do itl this year as I am not getting any younger. One is considered to be Men Junior Veteran after 35 ! I trained hard therefore I was confident that I would be able to finish the race . There was no time limit set because all I wanted is to just complete the run and not end up as a DNF. 3 hours and 30 minutes seemed quite impossible after my recce the night before.
The crowd was exhilarating ! It was really happening to see lots of runners preying around , getting ready at 5.30 in the morning. I was a bit embarrassed by my physique when seeing other participants. Everybody looked professional and experienced and there I was , a 21k wannabe lining up to start the race of his life.

Adrenaline was pumping hard and when the clock strike 6 , I was on the go. I focussed and concentrated on my own pace ; refusing to bother the crowd around me. I was jogging slowly , maintaining my speed and just proceed! It was also the azan when we started and I managed to stop by the roadside and fulfill my prayers. Of course, it was still early in the race when my tummy felt uneasy ! I can't remember which hotel it was , ( along Jalan Syed Putra ) but it was nice of the captain to allow me using his toilet !! HAHAHAHA
I was still running constantly on reaching the 5km mark , did not feel tired nor having any pain. Hmm..that is good i thought. arrived at Mid Valley just before 7am and the route took its turn towards the Seremban - KL highway. The route wa a bit up-sloping , so i decided not to force myself so much ; hey my objective ws just to finish the race ! It was indeed a long stretch to checkpoint 10km as we had to pass the Sungai Besi Airforce base ; threading beside the Smart Tunnel .
I was alright until 10k because i ran very slowly. I had few uncles running with me in my "group" , they were my pacers !! haahaha Was looking forward to tag along the sexy gym trainers but obviously my meeting point with them was only at the starting point !!!
I continued my pace , walk and run intermittently with my mind focusing to not feel any pain if there was any. I was ok till the 16K mark when i felt a bit crampy.. hmmm.. I was not panting ; but the lactic acid was certainly accumulating.
When i arrived at the 20k mark , Azad gave me a call asking my whereabouts. To my surprise , I was on course to run within the qualifying time !! Ohh.. a sudden surge of energy came ( along with my Powerbar Gel la.. ) and i was so motivated to run hard till the finish line. Of course, it was at this juncture that i was beginning to feel the strain and my feet suddenly felt blistered.
Ahhh.. mind games i thought ! The body is trying to influence my mind at this point ! I told myself, i can do it because its up to one's willpower now !

As soon as Dataran was in sight, i sped up ! Damn... it felt really good. All the things that bothered me in the last 1km disappeared and I was so motivated to finish it in style ! It felt so good.. o good ! Alhamdulillah ! Such happiness to see myself crossing the finish line within the 3 hours and 30 minutes and I was not tired !! Waaaahhh... best !!!! Getting the finisher's medal was such satisfaction and I was like a small kid ; wearing it around my neck until it was time to go home !!

the group

Azman the blogger !!
Alhamdulillah it went smoothly and I did not have my usual cramps on runs such as this ! I was OK after the 21k torture . The Celebrex may have had a factor in ensuring I was able to endure any expected pain !! Waah... i made it , nothing is impossible and my marathon attempt might be sooner than i thought !

Official time : 3 hours 13.01
Chip time : 3 hours 11.39

( not that fast though for some , but to me.. AN ACHIEVEMENT !!! )

I DID IT !!

I cannot describe how i felt when i reached the finish line..
Priceless...

My heart is beating faster and faster. It is post call day today and i'll be collecting my number today. Browsed through the klmarathon website and checked my name. Oh damn... i am registered for the 21k !! hahahaha.. I'm excited but at the same time a bit worried. Can i do it ? to finish the race without injuring myself ? hehehehe takut bang...

before the mentekedarah session..
Overdid my carbo-load week session this week by really walloping the buffet in PJ Hilton the other day. We were there to discuss pointers with the hotel rep. for our incoming annual dinner. It was difficult for me to resist the temptation of oysters and scallops ! There were always my favourite ( aphrosidiacs as well ?? ) and i succumbed ... hahahaha. Hmm.. iman goyah laa... :)

Obligation day !

It was a busy Saturday eventhough it was my post call day. We attended 2 events ; Azad's daughter's birthday and after that for my brother's engagement. It was a field day for my two kids as we were in One Utama in the early afternoon ; for our weekend outing as well as looking for appropriate presents for Lyana as well as Azad's new arrival , Haris Irfan.

Congratulations to Muti and Suzarene for their engagement! We were part of the entourage and it went smoothly.A big thank you to all my uncles and aunties who attended the event. It rained earlier but stopped when we arrived at Rini's place. Dzaeff was in his baju melayu which had shrunken since he last wore it ( He's grown !! ) while Qaisya dressed to kill.

Semangat membara..

sempat gak amik gambar tu.. hahahaha
I have less than 10 days to prepare for my first ever 21km. My training sessions were interrupted time and time again because of the heavy downpour in the evenings ! I waited forthe rain to settle today and rushed to Kiara Hills to do my run. There was a big sign to notify us about the orange run and that will be next . Jom la join !!
Now , i have another motivation to continue my runs after KLIM. Insya_allah , if everything is Ok , I'll be hoping to climb Trusmadi and Tambuyokun in Sabah sometime in August. Waahh... tak sabar lak rasanya , but i guess i need to be in tip top condition to climb these 2 G5 ( top 5 mountains ) of Malaysia..

I'll be there... ( pic taken from Apip n Arey of OGKL )

Main phone lagi..

Dignity in football

FAM hello.... SOS FAM hello....
I've not written about footie for quite some time , i guess since Liverpool was officially nowhere near as the EPL contender !! I love Malaysian football but what happened yesterday is definitely a humiliation. The rot is getting worse now.
Imagine , two of our so called best teams from the Malaysian Super League , playing in the prem rounds of Asian Champions league were totally trashed in their respective games. Let me say it out loud again.. TRASHED.. Our MALAYSIA CUP & LEAGUE CHAMPION.. trashed by the SINGAPOREANS !! both Perak and Kedah. Perak was worse when they had to take the 6-1 beating at home.( Kedah's 5-1 was equally bad and the excuse of not familiar with artificial turf is absolute bollocks !! )
HELLLOO ?? battered by teams from the S-League ? Berapa besar sgt league diaorang sampai kita teruk sangat kena belasah ?? Dahlah negeri tak cukup padang bola !! Come on man , at least we should have battled it out rather than outplayed and outclassed !! I cannot accept these results because it should not happen this way !!
I know politics is the in thing to blog about nowbut we should never forget about footie ; easily the number one game in Malaysia ! We've suffered long and there should be better results , well at least not humiliating ones !! Arrgghh...

Please clarify your status...

Just saw the PC on tv.. and i cannot NOT comment !! hahaha

"Saya hairan , kenapa buat pertama kali dalam sejarah tidak ada wakil wanita UMNO dalam kabinet , Yang ada Ketua Wanita MCA ( Ng Yen Yen ) ".. said Rafidah in her last press conference as MITI minister .

Ehh.. I thought Azalina is the tourism minister ? Isn't she Wanita UMNO ? I mean , she was Puteri UMNO chief beforebut when you've reached the age limit , automatically you are Wanita UMNO. Unless... Rafidah does not regard Azalina as a WANITA ... hehehehe..controversial...

Fuuuyooo magic..

Yesterday was an achievement for me during my on call as we went where no men went before !!! The usual practice for reimplantation of hand / fingers in Malaysia would be to put patient under general anaesthesia ; period. The surgery is known to occupy the OT for long hours ; 8-10 hours . Our patient was 27 years of age, fit young man and suffered a massive slash wound on his right hand when attacked by men with parang . After a fair discussion , he was agreeable for regional anaesthesia .
We gave brachial plexus block via the infraclavicular approach. I have no problems doing the block bcoz I've been doing it a lot. I can elicit my twitch and finish the job within minutes. However , it was the first time for me to insert a catheter in that space and crossed my finger that it works.
I was initially sceptic myself whether it was possible to retain the patient in his current state without converting to GA during the procedure. I cannot imagine lying down on a flat hard bed for 10-12 hours where it can be tiring and cause agitation and discomfort. But of course , with a damn good sedation it was possible. And guess what ? manage to reimplant the hand all the way for 10 hours with regional anaesthesia !! He was well asleep and never under GA ! When i woke him up he was amazed that it had been more than 10 hours and he could eat straight away !!! He was very hungry by then !!! No post GA complications !!! The best part for the patient is that he was never in pain after the block and he will be so as long as the infusion runs ..
*******************************************
We had to give GA for a 14 month old baby at 2am as he had suffered bad lacerations over his scalp. Scalp bleeding can be torrential and one has to attain it fast as it can really serious. I really dunno how he fell having such suspicious wound but of course ; it was secured. There was no problem with GA and we extubated him well. Now the baby will have a C.I. scare on his head !!

Fighting against yourself

I've been trying very hard to run in the evenings ; after work and during the weekend. I managed to follow my schedule , 5- 7 km run on alternate days in a week.I've built my stamina slowly but of course it is still uncertain whether i can last the 21km ! It feels good somehow after the run ; the rush is addictive.
I've been running on these 3 circuits :
1) UM big round
2) Kiara Hills punishing climb
3) my TTDI house to the Kiara Park.

Seems good but at times i do feel tired especially after the long OT. I am not sure if the gases influences my concentration and strength ? However the other enemy in this routine is to fight yourself ! The lazy thingy is very strong especially when seeing dark skies . I nearly succumbed to ASTRO this evening but the thought of not finishing the race came into mind. I have to train ! I have to train !!
I still have another 2 weeks to go and Insya-Allah if it doesn't rain , you should be seeing me in one of these 3 circuits !

Some thing new

It was horrid to lose my phone on election day ! I dunno whether i dropped it in the wards or in the changing room but when I called back there was no answer. Managed to block the number and keep it mine . Only after a few hours i realized.. maaaannn... phone tu baru beli !!!

The next day I was off to Sungei Wang and got myself a new phone. I nearly bought the same model but macam sakit hati jer !! hahahaha.. Therefore i got myself which came at the same price as 5130 , this :

And being a jakun 3G fella ( which I only upgraded while taking the new SIM card from Maxis centre ) , I spent my time and credit playing with the video phone function !! hahahahaha. The pic quality is quite good as it is 3.2 megapixel anyway. Now i don't have to bring my camera around in OT and use this cybershot instead.

I still miss my 5130 though.. cantik oo.. but then , takde rezeki... :(

I've been religiously following the latest since 838 and i do apologize if the sudden change of tone in my blog commenting on politics. It is just that it is interesting and there is a lot going in my mind ; thus the comments and postings on GE 08. My job as an anaesthetist goes on though , but i can tell you that every conversation i have with my colleagues revolved around the aftermath of an amazing polls.
Anyway , a friend cracked up this joke today about the PERAK situation..
PAS telling PKR and DAP in the Malaysian way ; pantun..

Gua raja di hulu ,
LU raja di hilir ,
Gua perintah dulu ,
Lepas tu lu gilir-gilir.. !!!

4:3:1 GHahahahahahahahaha
**************************************
I've been asked by my superiors to handle our department's dinner again this year ! I did thought of declining it because i was more interested in organizing a futsal tournament amongst the universities. However , the temptation was too great and again I am "trapped" ! haks.. ni orang kata paksa rela and having PJ Hilton as our venue is not bad !!

Magic and Mystery !!

Nak boikot ?

PETALING JAYA: The DAP central executive committee (CEC) has voiced its unhappiness over the appointment of Perak PAS secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as Mentri Besar of Perak. In a statement on Wednesday, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang said, “The DAP CEC has given approval for the formation of a Perak coalition government headed by DAP or PKR but not by PAS.”
Lim said DAP leaders, members and supporters are shocked at the decision to appoint a PAS assemblyman as Perak MB.“
DAP is prepared to accept DAP chairman and assemblyman for Sitiawan Ngeh Koo Ham or PKR Behrang assemblyman Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi as Perak Mentri Besar. “As the appointment of Mohamad Nizar as Perak Mentri Besar representing the third and smallest political party in the proposed coalition has not received the mandate of the CEC, DAP Perak assemblymen will stay away from the swearing-in ceremony for Perak Mentri Besar scheduled Thursday.”

tried to log on to LKS's blog but somehow it was jammed.I really wanted to see the statement he faxed to all mass media. Definitely an interesting 24 hours to the swearing in ceremony.

UPDATE : Managed to get through.. checkout the comments made. Interesting !!

Spins for Pak Lah

1.It's a big headache for Pak Lah to choose the new cabinet members. He can't be appointing senators from MIC and GERAKAN to make the numbers. Giving most of the post to UMNO is a no no as well as it will not auger well in the power sharing concept.
Suggestion
Reduce the number of cabinet members. We have too many ridiculous minister posts !!
Choose only those who deserve it.. ( many would beg to differ this point though !! )

2.Ready to accept that the first proposal from the parliament opposition ; vote of no confidence to the current PM and government . This time around , the ruling party cannot veto it out and it will be discussed and debated in length !!
Suggestion
It can be very humiliating. Must consider "escape-clause" ! This needs a lot of balls though..

3.Should i even proceed to the National Budget presentation ?( An obvious 2/3 majority issue !! ) Expect a counter Budget which will sound more convincing to the rakyat . Big dilemma here...
Suggestion
Please do a proper meeting and discussion with the opposing party before presenting ! Don't end up looking like a fool when it is not passed by the House of Commons !

4.Certain UMNO faction maybe planning for your dismissal behind your back. It has happened before and do learn from history. This sentiment will grow and the one in waiting is smiling from ear to ear!
Suggestion
You just have to follow the flow ; bound to happen sooner or later. Too many people hungry for power and resistance is futile. Is there any other choice ?

WHAT LAH...

My intrepretation - Part 2

Wherever I went today , everybody was talking about the outcome of the 838 elections. From high ranking professionals, gym trainers and down to the "domestic affairs officers" - ( the foreigner working staffs la !! ) were so involved in commenting the outcome of a bizzare polls. Some thought it was a shock , few did expect it but not as how big it is in denying the 2-3rd majority while another group ( who did not even vote !! ) were commenting on how it should not have happened.
I must say in all the discussions I was involved in today had a common fact. They thought the BN government deserved it because of their arrogance. It became a silent understanding that most Malaysians were not happy with how the country is managed at the moment. The government controlled media labelled the phenomena as protest votes while the anti-BN media put it simply as the "rakyat" speaks. Both are however correct ; just like seeing the glass which is half empty and at the same time half full.I do hope that the "viagraless "BN would not blame rakyat as stupid in not voting them as it will only cause more anger and dissapointment.

The rakyat were challenged - time and time again. If they wanted change , d show it during the polls - the ruling party said in past confidence of winning all the time . And my . my .. how the rakyat have reacted. The results amplified that BERSIH and HINDRAF rallies were significant and not just another mere anti establishment tactics. If one really analyze the results almanacly ,it was our electoral distribution maintained the big number of seats for BN . The truth is , losing 5( major states ) out of 11 states in Peninsular ( Melaka , Perlis and Negeri Sembilan is not that big though ) is a major disaster ! Even Johor seems to lessen its role as a guranteed state for BN.

Barisan Nasional only gained about 51 percent of the popular vote from the 7.9 million ballots cast on Saturday. However, it took 63 percent of the seats contested - or 140 of 222 seats in Parliament.Interestingly, its peninsula-wide popular vote was only 49.79 percent, which effectively means that the opposition received the majority vote in this part of the country. However, when converted to parliamentary seats, BN has 85 of the constituencies in the peninsula, while the opposition bagged 80.Almost 40 percent of the BN's seats are in Sabah and Sarawak - 55 out of 140.

The Malays , Chinese and Indians in urban areas voted for a corruption free management which has been in doubt especially in Selangor. Too many mismanagements were reported in both mass and cyber media ; and somehow they thought they could run away with it. The major revamp on City councils will be interesting to watch ; because all this while it was this particular issue raised and debated in the State Assemblies. Issues of PakLah's sleeping policy tendencies and claims of KJ's hidden hand became the popular campaign issue in the rural voting areas. Of course , it sounded like slander and character assasination but unfortunately the counter reaction was not convincing at all ( If it was not true laa.. ) hence the obvious swing for the fence sitters.

However , to really say that we have voted as Malaysians rather than for personal race survival may be too early. We'd like to think we have done so but I beg to differ . It maybe a first step towards creating REAL- Malaysia but our voters are still voting out of sentiment rather than core issues. We will mature as a society as there is no accelerated ways for this .Firstly , we really do need a lot of understanding about Malaysia and love its history. Logical solving of fundamental constitutional issues may not be as simple as how we reckon it is.

My own intrepretation -Part 1

PRU 12 - 8 / 3 / 2008.
Results ? A Political Tsunami they called it ; even the oppositions did not expect such swing. They managed to achieve their lifetime goal of denying 2/3 majority which most analyst thought something impossible to do. Capturing Kedah , Perak and Selangor was a bonus ; don't think they were prepared about forming state governments unlike Penang which looked doomed since Koh Tsu Koon's uncharismatic takeover of Gerakan leadership. It was certainly a handsome win if one would like to compare in the long history of oppositions. What was achieved in this election is a dream for Dato Onn , Ahmad Boestamam , Tan Chee Koon etc. I must say , the way they captured victory is impressive.
This election is a total disaster for BN. As how in the yesteryears , proudly saying before polling that holding the 2-3rd majority will never be a problem was disproved. Losing states which were thought to be strongholds is like a big slap to the face. They thought they were going to capture Kelantan , but ending up losing 4 other states ! Pak Lah is shattered and this is a very hard time for him. His senior partners in MIC and Gerakan were obviously ousted by the people's power. Democratically voted out - a show of displeasure and dissatisfaction since he came out to say " BEKERJALAH DENGAN SAYA , BUKAN UNTUK SAYA". What went wrong ? They really need to review and do a proper post mortem to identify truthfully the cause. It can be so obvious to soem but as how we like to live in denial will be the question.
The results also showed how literally the ruling party went to sleep in the last 4 years. Hearing Tun M's press conference today ; asking Pak Lah to resign is not helping either. The Barisan Nasional is at its weakest at the moment. Unprecedented loss of Shahrizat , Aziz Shamsuddin is a wake up call if he is not already awake. Samy Vellu and Koh Tsu Koon architectured their own downfall ; making unpopular decisions and living in denial. People were not happy. Internal bickering , self sabotage maybe the main factor of why Selangor and Perak were lost . Lost to greediness , self interest and power crazy ; as how it was showed so obviously on the eve of nomination day for Perlis.
By next week , we will know who will lead the unconventional non-partisan government in the numbered states ; and I can imagine the main agenda in their first year will be STATE CLEANSING . I guess this is when we will see Anwar and Ezam's promised boxes to be revealed..

The truth of generations

Anak kecil main api,
Terbakar hatinya yang sepi,
Air mata darah bercampur keringat,
Bumi dipijak milik orang.

Nenek moyang kaya raya,
Tergadai seluruh harta benda,
Akibat sengketa sesamalah kita,
Cinta lenyap di arus zaman.

Indahnya bumi kita ini,
Warisan berkurun lamanya,
Hasil mengalir ke tangan yang lain,
Peribumi merintih sendiri.

Kita rumpun bangsa Melayu,
Menganut agama yang suci,
Semangat bangsa berlandaskan Islam,
Teras capai kemerdekaan.

Masa depan sungguh kelam,
Kan lenyap peristiwa semalam,
Tertutuplah hati terkunci mati,
Maruah peribadi dah hilang.

Kini kita cuma tinggal kuasa,
Yang akan menentukan bangsa,
Bersatulah hati, bersama berbakti,
Pulih kembali harga diri.

Kita sudah tiada masa,
Bangunlah dengan gagah perkasa,
Janganlah terlalai teruskan usaha,
Melayu kan gagah di nusantara.

8 March 2008

I was on call yesterday - but that did not stop me from fulfilling my rights as a citizen.I woke up fairly early and by 8am I was already in the queue outside my former secondary school. I was quite impressed with the numbers ; quite a few turned up early in the morning to exercise their rights. Unfortunately , I could identify myself as one of the "younger" ones there at that time.

And of course , never could I imagine witnessing the new chapter of Malaysia history X.

Panas

Who would you vote for ?
Stability ? Change ? Personality ?

A lot of us may take for granted our rights as a voter. We tend to oversimplify thinking how insignificant we are ; that our one vote will not mean anything.Onus the absence from the polling stations on the important day. Our forefathers fought hard for this right and i reckon we should not waste this opportunity. To fulfill one's right is an obligation ; no matter who one support ; be it the ruling Barisan Nasional or the alternative oppositions.

So vote my friends.. Jangan lupa pergi mengundi... Undi anda adalah rahsia... Voice your opinion through the polls ...
