Quiet weekend

Saturday morning started off well with Project A. hahahahaha... We went to One Utama early in the morning with the objective of looking for a suitable Digital camera. Thinking of getting one as i will be off to KK next week.It'll be more easy for me to carry it around without worryin the end product.

However , we ended up shopping for other things ! My wife actually brought quite a substancial amount of lingerie.. hehehehehe.. And i was searching for the perfect gift for a friend. Well , the problem was i know that he can afford to get anything he wants. I had to look for something which was unique and memorable. I found a small car model ; SKYLINE GTR. eventhough it was black and not white ; as well as a different model but it looked good and i know it will evoke lots of good memories about the car !! Haks.. hope you like the gift Fiqar..

After locum ; went to Bukit Jelutong to attend Fiqar's bbq. Glad to see LAn and Nor there. The bbq started at 5 pm and i came after 10pm !! haks... Well , the host was kind , the food was really good ( tengokla berapa banyak makan !! ) and it was fun to catch up stories with a Under ; a friend from Kedah who'd currently in town.

Sunday was Race DAY !! And where better to watch it if not back in TTDI !! Haks.. had lunch at mums with my special request ; ketam masak lemak. My alltime favourite dish and i can tell you guys , nobody can make it like mum do. MMMM... mmmmmmm... The lunch was great and dear wifey admitted this too seeing the amount she actually took in !! haks..

Ferrari fumbled big time and we had a new winner this year for Sepang F1 Grand Prix !! Haks.. it was a kewl race and there were lots of interesting incidents. Then , decided to loan off mum's digi cam for my trip !! Senang sikit as i am not keen on going window shoppin to get a good bargain next week !! Haks.. check out my test2 nyer digi photo !!!

Footie once more..

Me , Fiqar and Megat went together to PULAPOL , KL. The pitch was good ; floodlights were on ; terasa semangat nak main. haks.. It's fever pitch again !!! Syamim ( our beloved manager ) was still waiting outside the Quarters gate for our team members who had never been here before.

We played against i don't really know who last night.According to reliable sources after the game , the company was doing a player's selection for their inter company league. So imagine their seriousness facing us the part-timers overweight team !! Haks..

It was good to see the footie guys again after a two years exodus. Boy , Zaff , Ja-a, Ari , Bet , faiz , ( +few others who i can't really recall now but know their faces ! ) and the usual suspects of Nasrul , Huzai , Imran , Adri , Shahril , Lan keeper,Is. However it was obvious that we were not fit as in the 3 halves ; three different teams went in !!!

We were walloped 6-1 , Is scoring ala Ronaldo goal nearing the end. We were outclassed and outwit ; but we thoroughly enjoyed the game.Glimpse of the old DUFC came in patches but the lack of fitness was very apparent. I spent most of the time chasing after the ball as our team was a bit crap on keeping possession. Had one collision with a foe ; but surprising PAIN WAS PLEASURE !!! hahahaha..

It has always been fun playing competitive footie. During my school days it was not very intense. I was lucky that during my stint in UK ; I was exposed to this culture. If i had been in Malaysia maybe i will not love footie as how i am now. The English are very passionate about the game and it influenced me a lot being amongst them.

In Shrewsbury School , the Michaelmas term ( Autumn ) is the footie season. There are 10 houses ; perfect for an Inter house league. School 1st team players were not allawed to play in this League. It went on from August till the Christmas Holidays. The games will be played during Friday afternoons after class. It is the most awaited time week in week out ; gutsing against boys from other houses. I played as a left back ; and sealed that position during my two years there.

It was a time when i didn't know the meanin of contact lenses ; Imagine me playing "blindly" ; not recognizing my team mates faces ; only the white or navy blue jerseys. I was the "smallest" player due to my small physique . ( height being 1.7 m amongst the average 1.8m english youths !! )I was able to cope with the game as i had speed as my advantage ; i was able to beat players to the ball . Hussin and Ady played for their houses too but not as regulars though. I introduced to the school "baggy" shorts ( up to knee length) when at that time the shorts all were like mid thigh length !! My housemaster called me the Hungarian 50's player !!

I can still remember how cold it was when starting the game ; made worse when the English drizzle showed up !!. However body heat took over as the game progresses.I remembered during one of the games when it snowed and we continued playing. Ya Allah , sejuk giller !!! I remembered how Matron waited for us back in the house changing room preparing hot water and blankets to warm us up!! Haks.. there was the other incident when i had a bad leg cramp and was by the sidelines aching in pain. My housemaster came to the rescue but guess who came up to me first ?? Randy ..his dog !! He came up to me and sniffed ; me being the typical Malay then was like.. damn.. damn... anjing ni and screamed for help... hahahahahaha... Kesian Randy .. sure terperanjat tengok apa la mamat ni tak friendly !! ( He actually became a "good" companion during my Sunday morning newspaper reading in the common room )

It was very competitive and physical. I had my fair share of a physical game despite my size. It encouraged me to become robust and i had injured few players twice my size !!! ( haks.. not to mention the yellow cards i received ). Scored only one goal during the 2 years stint but the whole experience was wonderful. We would discuss the game plan the night before the game in the captain's bedsit . The next morning ; the formation and players list would be post up in the house bulletin board.I really enjoyed the passion and game play.

We won the League 2 years in succession. Fact : It was our first time winning the Cup !!! Such an honour !! Ingrams ( my house ) was always known to be crap in footie but somehow that season we managed to beat the odds. I was so proud of the achievement ; I received my House Colours ( 1st year house tie.. 2nd year house scarf ) in view of my contribution.

Wow.. how i missed those times and it was rekindled by my DUFC experience. But that my friend.. is another story...

Prayers for a friend

A close associate of the kam cheng brotherhood is going through a difficult time. Her mum is sick and her prognosis is uncertain.The mum ( who's been a very good marriage advisor !! ) is in the hospital and currently under critical care.

I can understand her refusal to discuss as well as to make this news known to all. As friends and "family" we can only emphatize. Bak kata pepatah , Ikan di laut.. asam di darat.. heks.. eh silap.. tu Suparjo !! I mean.. BERAT mata memandang BERAT LAGI BAHU MEMIKUL.

Ms Leena.. We are praying for you and your family to have all the strength and courage to face this crisis.Fate is "planned" by Allah for us. If you really need anything.. you know who to get it from ..

Haks.. memories of glory liverpool !! Liverpool played last night and they only managed a draw with Blackburn ??? This weekend would be Everton n the derby will be hot !!! After the emphatic win to qualify for Champions League quarter finals ; they decided to switch off and played an awful game yesterday !! And they are actually talking about winning the CHampions League ?? haks.. so inconsistent as how they've been for the past 10 years ; or since as long as i can remember !!

I can vividly remember the glory liverpool in the 80's . they were really really good.Youd just love to watch their game because their passing game was perfect; It used to be Liverpool's identity and brought them wonders.

I was introduced to English League by my cousin - En in Melaka. When i was younger ; i would always spend school holidays in Melaka with him. He;s the youngest of three and i am the eldest of five ; still i am more manja than he is.. hehehehe... Pak Long introduced me to soccer n badminton ; coz my dad was not a real sports fan. He was more of a workaholic.. hehehehe.. And only from then i started to pick up my interest in sports ; A staunch Selangor supporter and a proud scouser !!

Haks.. apa la punya blog dedicated to liverpool !! well , i'm actually frustrated with them !! time and time again.. but i still love them !! Kinda "normal" thingy i suppose ; sounds like marriage !! hahahahahaha

Anyway , i have a footie game tomorrow !! Not futsal but field football at PULAPOL tomorrow ; DUFC veterans !! haks.. Dah tua n slow jadik la veteran !! HAvent played proper field football match for more than a year now !! Mesti pancit nih .. I can imagine the pace of the game tomorrow.. slow and steady.. hehehe Well, i 've been doing my joggin so i reckon it will help a lot.

I used to play for this club ; DUFC which comprises of my mates way back from SRKDU. Well , i wasn't a real regular but i was part of the team 2002 - early 2003 ; playing matches every sunday afternoon for the League organized by Shamim ; an old pal of mine !! He's really enjoying his job as a footie matches organizer and currently attached to Sports Planet. ( alah.. yg own the biggest futsal court/ chain in M;sia ). Tomorrow will be a reminiscin match meeting back old friends for a good footie match..

Letharginess..

Been busy for the last 2 days.. A bit out of the ordinare'. My OT schedule ishectic ; doing Orthopaedics cases which will take me up to 5 pm to end.. I'm quite allright now doing spinal !! haks.. mana taknye.. satu hari 4-5 cases for me to do.. The seniors are studying for their exams therefore the specialists are more than happy to teach and guide.. |Still in the learning curve and i can tell you the gradient is getting steeper..n steeper..

Tapi sebenarnya carik sendiri masalah , coz i've been doing locum job 6 - 10 pm yesterday and today.. nak carik duit lebih la katakan.. hehehehe.. results , tired and lethargic. My mind's creativity somewhat blocked ; Don't really have any strong issues to write for now..

Letih ni.. nak kena tido' dah.. esok kuliah subuh...

The New Atmosphere

some OT somewhere... but HKL's better

Today ; i stepped into the "NEW" OT of HKL....Its 2nd day of life..sort of another good introduction of Anaesthesia practice for me. If any of you knows HKL's history ; it is actually the OLD OT which renovation took like 5 YEARS TO COMPLETE ????!!!! I really dont understand the absolute CRAPNESS of HKL surviving the last 5 years -using the makeshift ; storeroom interior standard Operating theatres situated in A&E !! The so called MOBILE OT became like NON-MOBILE for the past 5 years !!! ANd i wondered and wondered then.. is this THE Tertiary centre of Malaysia ? The best most modern sophisticated hospital in Malaysia ??

Today i got my answer. Wow.. the new refurbished OT is really kewl. We have 13 OTs inside ; each complete and independent. KEWL GILA BABENG !! I was so impressed with the layout that one can actually be lost inside it if you're not good with directions. Nantilah , when i have a digital cam i will snap few pictures for viewing. I like the induction room ; just before entering OT . macam real jer.. hehehe but there;s still no HOT WATER.. like i almost froze while scrubbin !@! Now i can safely say that HKL's the best hospital in Malaysia !! hehehehe But it was so cold today in the OT.. like 14oC??? My fingers went Raynaud !! hehehe

Did Orthopaedics cases today. Manage to execute SPINAL ANAESTHESIA .. kewl giller , not that difficult though - just like LUmbar puncture. YEAH !! berjaya.. hehehe the second case was LMA - and it is much simpler than intubation. Well , My Specialist today was the kewl Dr Anil ; who taught me quite a lot today. But the Surgeons overshot their time-limit and i went back after 5 pm. hehehehe Ok la kan , considering during my medical days going back at 5 pm is a rarity !!

Liverpool won 3-1 yesterday and i am very happy for that. Haks.. i hate this you know ; when we start to hope and you'd know the next time they will hurt you so much.. hehehe Liverpool tul laah.. but i really do hope that they'll do well in Champions League.. tolong lah.. *smile*

Gassin' people...

I am happy.. i am a definitely happier doctor now working in the current MAlaysian Government system .In most other disciplines you'll here doctors loathing about how it sucks ; but in my current department it is definitely good life !! haks.. Though i know that the extra time i have now is because i am not on-call but the working hours are excellent and very convenient. The reason being ; the nature of job. It is more OT ( Operation theatre ) oriented. But as i've mentioned before , this department requires dedicated personals and competent skills.

Today i was doing the UPM list. DId my surgery housejob with them previously. The surgeons were quite surprised to see me there !! HAks.. In HKL , the UPM surgeons are not usually in line with the anaes team. Thats why the Anaes Specialist in charge will always be the ones who have strong personalities ; sometimes UPM make "funny" requests !! ( talknig from experience !! ) So i was like their "connection" duirng this morning's OT. But they are nice people and passed nice remarks about me to my specialist. Only GA's today ; did not get the chance to do epidural as yet .. takpe la.. man-man...

I am very happy with my training. ( Macam Jedi la pulak.. hehehehe) It is very structured and knowledge oriented ; as how the discipline is. Having a good HOD makes it more obvious.To my own surprise i am actually reading and studying eventhough i dont have any immediate exams !! I suppose due to my own interest and the fact of filling in my logbook ; vivas on different topics each OT session.Being the only MO to be admitted to this department within this 6 months made me popular !! Yang paling muda lah katakan.. hehehehhee This is a discipline where one needs basic knowledge before committing doing !! well , in Malaysia unfortunately ( like my previous postings ) it was learning as you go along !! haks.. Mesia..mesia...

The one thing i really appreciate in anaesthesia is maintaining sterility and adequate analgesia ( pain relief ) ; starting from the normal peripheral lines !! haks.. in the wards , belasah jer !! i've inserted before the biggest line ; orange 14G cam tu jer.. hehehe.. in the OT , one gives local analgesia !! haks.. gile terperanjat.. tu la pasal , ancient skills practiced in the medical wards. And talk about inserting Central LIne ; Kena scrub dulu etc ! haks.. i never did that in the wards and sometimes i did not even bother to inject local before inserting ; eg IJC line ! kesian lak ingat-ingatkan , asking the patient to bear the pain as i insert the BIG NEEDLE through the side of his NECK !!! hahahahaha.. tu la ajaran sesat ...

In a way , i do miss my clinic sessions in medicine. Where it was the time for me to talk, advice and at times being sarcastic to patients !!( somehow i entertain myself , the nurses and the patients !! ) In anaesthesia the human contact is mostly during the pre op visits ; not very extensive though. But then again , i am not trading it for what i have now.

True , they mentioned that the on-calls are busy. But i can assure you that it will not be as heavy as medical calls !!!

p/s Our CME( COntinuous medical Education ) is on Wednesdays. The timing is wonderful.. known amongst us as KULIAH SUBUH ANAES. time 7.00 am - 8.00 am !!! well , i have no problem with that coz its always DEPARTMENT's BREAKFAST after CME..

Well... managed to finish my Da Vinci's Code !!! haks.. My recommendation ; if you're into history and conspiracies ; read this book. It is just wonderful !! Dan Brown really knows how to get one glued to the book. When i stop intermittently ; i had to make sure i can commit my time before continuing - no point reading i chapter per day.. coz you'll continue... n continue.... n continue....

I reckon it's the after effect of the book which is the pulling power. I went browsing the net to search for the so called "truth" ... looking through the art work by Da Vinci n..hmmmm... heks.. inquisitive mind la katakan..

In retrospective ; This book has the concept similar to The Satanic Verses written by Salman Rushdie ; a book that caused uproar in the 80's among Muslims. The only different thing with this one is there are no OFFICIAL clerics declaring his death as how Salman Rushdie's head wanted by Ayatollah Khomeini. Who knows - the Vatican is actually thinking about assasinating him ?? Only time will tell.. jeng..jeng..

Tomorrow SPM results will be out. My youngest sis is very nervous ; waiting for the outcome. Well,i can understand that feeling !! haks.. the only trouble is , currently she doesn't know what she wants to do. Her heart wants dentistry but it depends a lot on her results !! Having 4000 students with 9As will decrease one's chance for critical courses( unfortunately). My parents are keen for her to take up TESL ; but i can imagine being at her age ; being a teacher is last on mind !! My personal opinion : BEST EVER CHOICE ; take up teaching !!! hehehehe

Lets cross our fingers.. ( hmmm.. another vatican-influence-spreading-tactic ??? )

B.U.X the legacy..

Dunno why really , the past week had been sort of JEJAK KASIH for me n my B.U.X colleagues. B.U. X was the name of our group - JPA sponsored students doing medic in UK; batch number 10 .My wifey was a part of this too..

It all started 10 years ago - 60 odd students fresh after SPM , from various backgrounds and experiences ; grouped together to achieve the Malaysian Government aspiration to fulfill Malaysia's need of doctors.haks.. I can still remember the first day in PPP ITM Shah Alam s17 - meeting all the Malay SPM top students of Malaysia ; future doctors of Malaysia. My results were not as handsome as theirs ; explaining my initial inferiority complex being amongst them. Everybody so innocent , immature in life and we were to embark newfoundland ; a long journey of education and life.

Back to the story - Erda called Haniza after a long lapse of non-communique . She was asking about the possibility of her coming back home. Haks.. my recommendation was RETURN with post graduate qualification or you'll NUMB yourself in Malaysia's healthcare system. DEFINITELY NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED !!

THen , as i was bloghopping - bumped into our EX-PENGHULI ; Najmiah!!! haks.. what a surprise !! She;s doing anaes apparently and about to take her membership exams. Wow !! I have not seen or heard from her for the past 6-7 years ? After A-levels.. that was really one JEJAK KASIH. Then.. Yesterday as i was on my way back from KLGCC.. i requested DIL to STOP STAT when i saw a familiar face as we were passing the TTDI PAsar Malam.

PECET AND JULI !!!! HAks !! the long lost couple in Cardiff !!! Damn !! it was such a JEJAK KASIH as i last met them during their wedding here 5 years back !Now the're with 2 kids. Wow kan!! It was fun to catch up stories ( i had limited time - DIl was waiting by the roadside after my abrupt demand !!! ) They'll be joining wifey in UITM - both trainee lecturers doing Surgery and A&E. Really really kewl !! Quite a few are now back in Malaysia. And i hope to sort of organize a reunion for these Doctors.

B.U.X was special to me ; though the organization was active during our A-levels we definitely had fun as we were a bunch of fun people !! haks.. I really really wish - when most of them are back here in Mesia - will organize a small gathering to catch up and see where everybody is heading..

4th Annual General Meeting

Attended PROMUDA's AGM today in KLGCC. Nope.. did not contest for any posts - just as an observer..siapa lah kita.. ikan bilis junior.. hehehehe Well , Dil asked me to help him with familiarize his role in today's AGM - R.O. for the elections.. Kiranya SPR lar in short.. heks..

Spent like > 2hours with him prior to the event ; preparing his script for the session. It was quite fun though , upholding the Kam Cheng trait.. we were a laughing lot when typing the script down in the Club House Cafe.

The AGM went alright ; i was one of the observers in the Election committee - foreseeing the vote counting as transparent as possible. hehehehe.. Remembered the time when i became the RO for the UMNO Clubs of UK... PROMUDA'S election is very mild ..very very mild...

Well, not much of a surprise when Don returned unopposed. 2 Tekadmons are now EXCOs - Dato' Ziad and Dato' Sherrie !! Cayalah .. haks.. from the Kam Cheng side ; Dato' MAL is the EXCO for ICT !! MBUUAHAHAHA mal.. hehehehe kewl. Dil did not contest in concordance with the BIG PLAN.. whatever that is lar.. ( dont speculate.. i'm making this up !! ) Dont worry Dato' Dil , the 3 year MISSIONE DE COUPE DETA is already switched ON .. hehehehe Congratulations to the newly elected committee. Hopefully there'll be lots of KEWL activities and progress in store for the Young |Professionals of Malaysia !!

Funny Saturday..

Sports Planet Subang

Woke up this morning.. and realized that from now on i will have free weekends !!! UNless i'm on call u see..

Haks. i'm so used to working 7 days a week , i cant believe today i was able to sleep in , enjoying the moment - lying lazily without any worries. In the medical department , we have to take turns doing weekend rounds - waking up early in the morning and returning home near noon. Well, this is my new life. As i am currently tagging ; i wont be on call for 3 months !! So imagine having free weekends like any other ordinary joe !! haks.. call me jakun but this is definitely A BIG CHANGE IN LIFE.

Friday nite futsal went on as usual last nite - 10pm - 12am. I guess my evening jog in Kiara Hill had done some good as now i am able to last longer . I can play 5 games straight ( winners stay in the court while challengers come in once a team is beaten 2-0 ) I am much fitter now compare to last month when i can barely survive in a game runnin none stop !!I am worry about my weight though - my BMI is now 29 which is borderline obesity ...waahh.. i don't look obese do i? but compared to how i look only a few years ago - i am one berisi man !! haks.. Well, trying to control my appetite desire which is sometimes really really really really hard to DO !!

tONITE will be the JAMUAN MAKAN MALAM DIRAJA KOSMIK ( haks.. ) TEKADMONs gathering at Aizans. Apparently a live band will be playing which is very cool to my standards !! Looking forward for the meet.. will have lots of fun.. and food !!!

Today was my 3rd day of life as a new trainee in Anaesthesia.I am definitely happy here even though i haven't done much. In a way i was a bit shocked with this new life. Definitely less stressful and so easy going. My collegues are wonderful - everybody is helpful , from the MO's to the Consultants. Very very approachable people.

Advantages being in Anaesthesia

1.You work indoors - air conditioned guranteed. No more sweaty days!!( compared to most other disciplines - Government wards very warm oohh... )

2.The working hours are flexible. You work either 8am - 2pm or the 2pm to 6pm. A definite change from my usual routine.

3.You dont get to see patients with attitude problems - good for me ; less sarcasm.

4.U dont have to move around much - sit down and monitor.

5.Be very skillful in clinical skills.

6.Specialists are always around for consultation. They are really-really nice.

7.If you're not oncall then the weekend is yours.

8. Nampak cool... hehehehehehe

Disadvantages

1.Weight gain is sooooo much possible if i continue to eat breakfast and lunch everyday !!

2.When problem arises ; you have to be really good at handling it.

3.It can be boring when the surgical procedure is long - eg was today . I was in UROLOGY ROBOTICS and the process was SO SLOW.

I am not complaining however. I was told to tag aroundthis 2 weeks in all sorts of disciplines. I've masked and ventilated 4 patients and no problems so far. Insya-Allah it can only be better !!!

Felt like watching the movie today !! hAD been lurking the DVD haram shop for the past one week but still no Constantine.

Anyway , we paid the appropriate amount and continued to watch the movie. AND IT WAS GOOD.. !!!! I'm keen with religous themes on movies. Somehow it is interesting as they try to depict what is written in the books .Movies like this makes you think in trying to link.. but ONE thing was clear , the message the movie was addressing..

I am currently reading this book. Kewl book for history buffs like me !!! Maybe i'm a bit late compared to the roar it caused earlier but so what ? The postulations in the story flow is very intruiging !! Ask DIl !! Apparently he's reading it too *smile*

(The thought of reading this book came about during the Kedai Kopi session with Datuk Seri Sanusi Joned. Himself a self professed historian certainly cultivated my interest for this book.. )

Eventhough i am trying my best to finish the chapters in between my work.. It is amazing !! haks.. will review it once i've done with it !!!

A new leaf..

Did not update my blog yesterday.. Spent the whole day resting and sleeping. My last call in medical was really jonah !! haks.. Did not have any sleep at all - my pager was bleeping all nite non-stop with problems up left and center !!! Muahahahas...

The Saturday went slow in the morning.. well , went back late the nite before after Tekadmons gathering and futsal !! Woke up really lazy .. haks.. went in quite late about 9 am - thought that my specialists were attending the CME.. apparently not !! haks..What a good way to start the day...

THe climax of the call was at 4.30 am , me and sHAKTI ( He was the 2nd call in charge of CCU / CRW - cardiac related units) were sitting talking at the oncall room thinking that the worse was over. The pager bleeped and the one of his patients went VT ( Ventricular Tacycardia which means that hjeart beat went hay wire.. ) Both of us ran to CRW and the initial resuscitation was done by the resident nurses. Apa lagi.. haemodynamically unstable and patient was not arousable.. We shocked him TWICE. He did not respond and the ECG went assystole ! ( straight line .. ) damn !! we continued the CPR and me n Shakti took turns to intubate the patient - the idea was to protect the brain with adequate ventilation.

Unfortunately it was difficult intubation - patient had a short neck and obese. I could not locate the laryngeal opening.. and we failed to intubate him . WE called anaes but the 1st 10 minutes was unsuccesful .. NTAH MANA DIA PERGI !! we were pumping in adrenaline generously ; to maintain the heart beat if it was salvagable..

Rai came ( the anaes ) came.. he brought with him a small CEKAP bag.. heks.. in it was a special laryngoscope , had never seen one !! it was difficult too for him , only succesful on his 3rd attempt. HOwever , i think it was too late. He was not responding to the adrenaline ot the CPR. We had to concede and Shakti informed the family. Immediately , the pager bleeped again and Shakti was called to the resus. Another MI !!! haks.. gile teruk..

Damn.. seeing RAi came made me realize - i have to fill in his shoes sooner or later. Takut jugak.. haks.. can i be that competent ?? muahahahas.. time will tell..

And i went like.. whoooaaaaa... CAYALAH !!!! haks...CONFIRMED BY THE BIG BOSS HIMSELF !!!!!

Well , earlier yesterday during FREE lunch after the ID Antibiotics forum , Dr Rozita ( the b***h i hated ) came up to me and told me unofficially. Obviously i did not believe her and was a bit sceptical. Then later - during the CT scan conference , Dr Badrul ( specialist in charge of MOs ) told me that i'm off to anaesthesia !!

Gosh.. after all the effort , fights , arguments , letters .. haks.. i finally got it! I was thinking of seeing the Timbalan Pengarah coming 2 3 days to see the update of my application . I am really glad that i will now be where i want to be..

haks.. at the same time , a bit scared coz there is no turnin' back. Have to do well and reliable !! i reckon the training i'll be getting in HKL will benefit me . Thank you to everybody who helped me to get me be where i want to be. My tribute to the Medical Department specialists who had taught me alot during the posting.. it was worthwhile and i am now more prepared than ever to take the anaesthesia challenge..

Visiting doctor in Alor Setar...

Wow.. did something crazy yesterday. I was in Alor Setar today !! haks.. Well , a friend called me up ( he's workin in N9 ) regarding his mum who's an uncontrolled diabetic. She had left diabetic foot ulcer and had done debridement twice within this two weeks in Hospital Alor Setar. Apparently her left toe had gone gangrene ( black coloured dead cells ) and the doctors there advised for below knee amputation. He did not know what to do so he asked for my advice.. and later asked me to follow him back to Alor Setar last nite... hmmmmm... well i said YES !! hahahaks..

We departed from KL at about 8.30 pm. i didn't know he changed his car to Accord. so the journey was really smooth !!! We arrived at the hospital at about 2.30 am in the morning and went into the ward straight away. His mum was a bit depressed but when she saw her son.. you could see the glitter in her eyes. We were too tired and retired at Seri Malaysia which was near to the hospital.




Visited her again in the morning and saw the wound when the nurses were cleaning it. It was bad and one could see that the gangrenous cells spreading .MY professional opinion ; she really needs the amputation fast before it gets worse.She's not that ill now but her parameters gives a sepsis picture. Being 60++ one would expect her to have some sentimental value; i can imagine. It's not easy to coax and explain the an old lady. It was more of preparing her psychologically rather than speaking in strictly medical terms. It was a bit melancholic when she mentioned..

Departed from Alor Setar at about 4 pm by bus and arrived home quite late. Well , another day in a doctor's life i guess - contributing and sharing my knowledge wherever.. and whenever i could..

Healthy Sunday !!

Sunday started well with the success of the planned FRIM trip. I have not been there for more than 10 years - the last when i was in form 2 - scout trip visiting the forest museum. Haks.. when i arrived there how things have changed and the place is soo nice !!! A place that maybe the "port" for my future fitness programme !!!

I arrived there at 8 am.. Obviously the first to arrive!! (haks.. tu lah.. keen sangat.) Azad n wifey arrived later with Mal and Lily joining us.Apparently lots of people do their morning sunday walks here - there are quite a number of tracks available. We took the jungle track up to FRIM hill .. 1000 feet above sea level. Haks.. the journey was tiring - it was uphill all the way.. hmm.. a really good practice for my Kinabalu trip !! I was so refreshed with the trekking - the scenary was beautiful. Sayang.. the canopy walk is currently closed due to repair and maintanence.Sayang jugak.. NOBODY brought digicam... CIs !! So no pic la for this blog !! brought my film camera - dunno when will i develop the film and scan it for viewing.... :)

We managed to complete the track in 1 hour n 18 minutes i think ( Azad timed the journey ).It was fun doing this for leisure. I am thinking of doing it on weekly basis - for good health and love of nature !!!!

In the afternoon - attended A good friend's daughther's aqiqah - Megat Harris in Kota Damansara. Mafiz n ROzita , Fiqar , Juwie , Edrus was there too , Ustaz and of course Mal and Lily again !! Azad terkorban as he overslept after the exhausting trek in the morning !! haks .. The lamb was really nice and the mentekedarah spirit was indeed alive among the KamCheng gang !! muahahahahas Anyway Megat.. congratulations for Putri Nuryn Ilany !!!

In the evening , i actually went to climb the Kiara Hill !! hahahaha.. gila nak jadik fit balik - figured i had nothing constructive to do .. well , it was worthwhile getting my body so tired at night that i slept soundly last nite...

Attended Haniza's cousin's wedding this afternoon. It was a low key affair with almost all the family members turning out for the event.It was her "second" wedding hence the low-key mood.The atmosphere was however plentiful but it was a DAMN HOT AFTERNOON. The food was good though , i liked the fish fillet which was excellently done.

Tomorrow , hald the kamcheng gang will be doing the jungle tracking in FRIM ! I would be following and insya-allah it will be an enjoyable one. DUnno who will bring digicam so that the pics taken ( definitely be beautiful !! ) can be posted on this blog of Kamcheng;s blog.

Decision n responsibility

I was on leave today ; had a BTN function this morning in KBN Meru. It was a get together for all the trainers AKA Tenaga Penggerak from KL ,Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.Sort of pentauliahan semula AKA re-licencing the fascilitators for session 2005 - 06.Lots of SSM Kenegaraan to do this year !!! Not sure when will my next assignment be..

My status is a bit funny though ; as i was born in Selangor , stayed in KL but yet i am a registered trainer from Negeri Sembilan! I will not however change my allegiance as i am comfortable on where i am. Most of the fascilitators are above 40's club ; i am somehow a bit "sesat" being in this group of people !! But the experience you gain from them is worthwhile !! Besides the N9 lot are a fun lot .I CANNOT stop laughing or grinning when we are together in our accomodation during "kursus"..saucy jokes and stories!!!!!




Something interesting happened in P2 ( my ward ) yesterday. Did not blog it down because i was too tired last night - pushed myself in the evening to complete the Kiara Hill track jogging non-stop !! Man ..i was so konked out last nite !!!

It was at about 11am - it was a passive day and we were all sorting out the patient's management decided during the rounds. There were lots of ill patients admitted during the active day. Suddenly one of the nurses shouted - patient bed no2 stopped breathing !! So it was the normal routine bringing the resus trolley to the 65 year old Indonesian man -treated as Sepsis 2 to Pnuemonia . then at the same time , another nurse shouted - another patient collapsed. And the other group went to attend the 70 year old Chinese men with stroke. The patients were literally side by side and both were bad - the anaes team was called in for ventilation.

Then suddenly a loud outcry from another corner of the ward by family members.. a 71 year old Malay man with upper GI bleed 2 to over warfarinized INR of 10 !!! ( normal.. 1 - 2 ) damn.. another team went there ; the housemans were actually the ones leading the resus.. in P2 there were only 2 trolleys , only 2 sets of resus equipment !!! All staff were busy doing CPR. and we had to make the decision.. which one to let go.. Damn... damn.... damn.... which means that we will only do CPR on the patient.. WITHOUT ANY MONITORING... WITHOUT ANY BAGGING... NO INTUBATION... The scenery was chaotic..

Of all 3 , the prognosis was worst for the 71 year old bleeding man. therefore , he was the one being resuscitated without full complete monitoring - initially he had no pulse n not breathing spontaneously.. adrenaline was pushed in n he responded.. his BP was readable and pulse palpable !! Imagine.. having to resus the old fashion way without ECG , digital BP reading.. and manual mouth to mouth respiration !!! damn.. damn...

PAtient no2.. had VF.. his ECG pattern went haywire.. we ran to him stat and defibrillated him 3x ...( always my favourite part of resuscitation.. macam gemapque jer buat.. CLEAR !!! ) his BP n pulse did not respond.. then his ECG went asystole.. even after adrenaline n atropine x6. He was pronounced dead after 20 minutes of resus. IMMEDIATELY.. we pulled of everything off him and brought it to man no 3 !! Anaes who arrived was pissed off with the inadequate fascilities..

The indon man.. initially responded to CPR.. failed us. He was scheduled to be transfered to ICU after intubation. he went asystole again n did not respond to the second resus. He was pronounced dead 1 hour from the initial resuscitation.

And guess who actually held on.. Yup.. our 71 year old Pak CIk , eventhough with massive bleeding ( fresh malaena ) hanged on and was only intubated after the Indon patient died. His pulse and BP was there with full blast inotropes , blood transfusion going on and he was still moving ( we had to give lots of sedation ) All efforts now was concentrated on him.. He was bagged for more than 3 hours as the anaes team mobilized the ventilator in the main building !! He was transferred to ICU later that day..I dont know whether he survived as i was on leave today..

It was so chaotic.. so havoc.. never had this before. It was harsh reality when things go wrong.having to decide who lives and who will not. Limitations in the government hospital will always be there... but i salute everybody , the attendants , the nurses , house officers and my fellow colleague for the tireless effort to give the best care for the patient. It was kelam kabut but everybody was doing their best to salvage the patient. Never ever doubt.. or even dare to question our commitment and effort for the patients!@! I can assure you that we do our best ; our very BEST....

One Lucky Cheeky Prawn...

I suppose when one is sincere , god will reward. Haks !!!! Yups.. this smirky prawn got lucky again ! Thank you wifey.. haks.. she bought me the above as a response to my sudden gift( do refer to previous blog ). Kewl pair of shoes huh ? Well , i was actually thinking of buying one for my proposed Kinabalu trip as well as needing a new cross trainer. God is great... She thought that i could use it for my weekly FRIDAY NITE FUTSAL . Nevertheless i'm grateful for the mistake coz i dont need new futsal shoes because my current shoes are still in good condition ( the blue coloured irky striking shoes !!! )

My current cross trainer is quite NAZAK you see.. haks..Me n Azad bought the same designed shoe ( POWER RM 80 i think then ) about 5 years ago.That was when we were about to enter our first KL MARATHON - we ran the 10 km run jer la..mana larat 42 km bang !!! His shoes went kaput quite some time ago due to extensive usage , me being very careful and dear managed to save it till now !! But the shoe is worn out and there are holes around it !!

Today was quite hectic for me. Had to handle the Physician's Clinic today. Busy - busy day - lots of people after a long holiday !! Managed to finish it on time and went to UiTM for my interview with the Dean.It went alright .. Haks... dunno whether i'll get the post but we'll see. I applied for Anaesthesia which is quite difficult to get. but who knows kan ? If my rezeki is there.

Read a close friend's blog which was really touching ; something that happened a year ago (syachou.blogspot.com) .It was regarding his difficulties getting back home from overseas ; not knowing his ill father had passed away in the mean time. Masya-allah . God test us in his own unique way.Blogs like this will make you realize how things can just go wrong when it comes. Soldier on my friend !! Alfatihah to arwah.

Circumcision day ..

Today was a special day for a cousin of mine. Well , he is just 4 years old ( son of Pak Pit - my mother's youngest brother ) and apparently Pak Pit asked me last weekend is it possible to get iqbal circumcised this week. Of course it is possible!!! enquired Dr Omar - my boss in Clinic Ikhwan and he said no problem !!
hence Pakpit came to TTDI with my grandma yesterday.

The only problem was Iqbal is a four year old child. How do you coax a 4 year old to consent for circumcision ? Obviously lie to him !! haks.. kesian.I felt guilty in informing him that the procedure was painless. That is absolute bullshit !!!! Lying to a 4 year old will have its consequences in the future. He must have had a shock of a lifetime ; while getting the local anaesthetic jabs earlier in the process.

Alhamdulillah , it went well.Eventhough initially he was struggling about (eventhough almost 4 people was restraining him !!! ) after the jab - he was fairly coopearative during the procedure. But post - op ; he refuses to wear the sarong and wanted to wear his trousers !! |It was a bit of a nuisance listening to him crying due to pain.. but obviously , any irritation to the penis will trigger him to feel it as pain !!

I remembered when i had my circumcision back in the late 80's . I can still remember the pain that was inflicted .. the jab was a real killer. I shouted and screamed all my might hehehehhehehe it was done in GH and it was a last minute job. Apparently my parents did not confirm with the clinic doctor , therefore my name was not on the list. My dad wanted it to be done fast so i was brought to HKL. hehehehe it was really bad !! the pain was unbearable but i recovered. but the NYILU feeling did stayed on for wuite some time. I remembered having difficulty wearing my underwear after the procedure.. hehehehehe lawak la pulak...

I guess at that age , getting circumcised was the main worry.THe topic discussed among peers was about fear and the experience pre - intra - and post procedure. The worry that the penis can be chopped off kept creeping into mind ! i had mine quite late ; 2 weeks before i entered form 1 !!! haks.. buat malu jer cerita dalam blog !!

Haks.. Chinese New Year is around the corner again !! Time flies so fast eih !!Year of the rooster is apparently good for sex but not for marriage..( i read it somewhere yesterday.... ) sounds dodgy isn't it ??? But do not forget my fellow friends that it'll be 1st Muharram as well , the New Year for Hijrah 1426 . Do recite the end of the year and new year's do'a!! Gong Xi Fa Chai tu kongsi jugak but do remember the our new year !!!! ( ahaks.. a reminder to myself sebenarnya.... )

Well , today i've been "loaned" to the dengue team for the whole week. Hoe is on leave for CNY and they needed somebody to replace him.Quite honoured really when boss Chris Lee actually nominated me .. haks.. but i guess its better than being in the gastro team.Apparently one of the Gastro M.O.'s broke her toe and will be on a long leave. And i suppose being the utility man , yours truly was suppose to replace her.Hmmm.. i wonder if this is a plot to CONVERT me to medicinism. I've announced publicly my hatred towards being in the department recently !!! Boss Chris Lee actually came up to me and sort of explained that the department is not stopping me from moving to anaesthesia ; but because of the current Dengue outbreak they needed M.O.s here. Well , i'm not easily swayed.. except that if they offer me a BMW.. hakss.. lebih lebih la pulak..


Waahh.. Can't imagine the kamcheng gang conquering the Vel on Wednesday !! Go DIl !!

I'll be on call on 1st CNY !! Haks.. but seeing the admission slow today , i reckon it will not be that bad on Wednesday.I reckon lots are taking this week off so most of the city dwellers will be off to kampung !! The Kam Cheng gang is organizing a trip climbing Batu Caves !! A healthy activity to shed off the spares !! haks.. wished that i can be a part but i have to save lives again lor.. haks.. ( macam gempaque jer bunyi !! )

Nevertheless , i still need to get into shape. Shakti ( a colleague of mine..used to be Mr KL ( bodybuilding) 3x ..good body ooh.. haks..) had planned Kinabalu Summit trip in mid MArch !! haks.. well , i am keen to climb the tallest Mountain in Malaysia ; the only one i've yet to climb. So i actually started my training today ; jogged around my neighbourhood. PAncit jugak !! Malam ni sakit2 badan dah..haks.. I will be using the Kiara track as well to build up my stamina.Therefore anybody interested to shed off the extra fat ; lets climb Kiara Hill twice a week !! hakss.. I used to be able to RUN.. not walk but RUN through the track !! WOW.. seemed so long ago...... swiinngg.

To the Kam Cheng gang , i envy the trip to Batu Caves !! do snap lots of pics and post it in our group Blog!! that'll be our golden dream... muahahahahss..

Just came back home ... My head felt a bit dizzy , not much sleep last night. Busy nite weehh !! haks.. initially i was thinking of dozing off straight away but because of my streamyx bill on the compie table ; i just had to log on !!

Paying bills is something that most of us do when we start work or living on our own.This luxury was not apparent during childhood and adolescence .After we decide to move out ; especially during our early tertiary education ; only then did we realize ooh.. ok.kena bayar eks.. hhehehehe. I remembered initially when i was in UK , i enjoyed swiping the supplementary given to me to buy essentials jerseys etc !! haks.. but as time goes by , one realizes independence and hence money planning. I hated paying bills not because of the amount but because of the waiting time.It is so irritating when we had to wait up to 1 hour just to pay a lousy bill especially when one visits the post office. I thank MAybank ( ni promote ni..muahahas ) for making paying bills convenient. I;ll log on and click-click stat.Settled !! haks.. Its just one of my obsessive habits, i'll feel restless if i dont pay up fast.( honestly !! ) I will immediately log on to my dear compie and click it stat once i have the bill with me. Ntah apa apa tah dak ? hehehehe

My call was fairly ok. slept from 4 - 6 am. but the thing was , from about 10 am till 3, my pager kept on bleeping non-stop literally .From one department to the other , as if i really do know what i am doing !!! It was Friday and most specialists wanted the medical team to review their patients to sort out any impending medical problems during the weekend. The one referral which i thought was a bit funny was from the Gynae team ; they asked me to review a patient .45 year old lady who came because of PV bleed but referred to me for her swollen feet which was around for more than 15 years !! and the referral was to rule out Cardiac Failure ?? duuuuhhh... but then , that's life. Anyway , enjoyed my call yesterday ; ordered a transfer out of patients at 2 am in the morning !! hehehe.. masa tu dah eccentric dah , luckily no more referrals after that for i dunno what i could have done more !!

Ok lar. need to get ready. I have my locum at 5pm in Sentul. Kalau nak MC datang ah Klinik Ikhwan.. hehehehehehe

Woke up early this morning feeling sick , was contemplating to take MC but somehow - me being myself decided to go to work today.Haniza shook her head in disagreement!! Not as febrile as last night but the letharginess was there.Checked my FBC ( Full Blood Count ) today , it did not look like Dengue ; but it is still to early to say. For your information ; the variable relevant would be platelet count.It affects ones bleeding time . Normal people would have between 150,000 - 450,000. In Dengue , it will go downhill and may reach as bad as 0 !! This is dangerous as this may precipitate one to have Dengue Shock Syndrome or Dengue Haemorrhagic Syndrome which can be very fatal !!! HAks.. macam explain kat patient laks. So you guys coming from dengue area , if your fever is persistent for +/- 4 days , not resolving , muscle aches.. do check your blood to confirm. I've seen sudden death due to Intra-cranial bleeding secondary to Dengue which could be avoided if detected early.

Finished my rounds early as i only had two patients left after a massive discharge i did yesterday.My houseman was happy with my style of discharging patients !! Had lots of empty bed ; ready for today's influx of patients ( we're active today ). Had my rest in the rest area - kira tido la jugak. hahahahaks..

While i was doing my afternoon rounds ; seeing new admissions Akram gave me a call. An SOS ; asking if i could be the MC for tonite's kedai kopi ! Haks.. i was about to skip the event as i wasn;t feeling that well. But i have this weakness in me that i don't like to dissapoint people ( Yes Ja.. u can laugh.. ) so i agreed. Haks.. suka cari pasal....

Anyway , met up with Dil , Chaaint , Asma , Elya and Ervan before the event in Gloria Jeans KLCC . Chaaint showed us the compiled pics from TEKAD TEKALI and currently preparing a presentation. He showed us his initial intro which is kewl. Cant wait for him to finish it; it'll be one kewl multimedia presentation. ( BANKER BANG... BANKER... )




THe Kedai Kopi programme was excellent. The turnout was fair. Dil , Asma , Izreen , Sheri ,Anaz , Inaz , Azam and Ziad was there. Sort of "small" reunion though !! and the topic of TEKAD TEKALI is still hot and discussable !!! I survived the MC task - a bit jittery in the beginning but Alhamdulillah , no blunders i think ! TAn Sri Sanusi is one kewl fella. The history of Acheh not told in history books was revealed in detail by him ! A walking dictionary ! It fulfilled me as History is my favourite subjectdulu .. kini... dan selamanya.... He mesmerised the crowd with his Acheh knowledge and made everybody dunno what to ask when he's done !! hahahahaha.. Well , he's one kewl fella and i can warn you don't mess around with him coz he knows what he's talking about most of the time. No wonder the former premiere trusted and relied on him to be in his team !!

I will be on call tomorrow. Hmmm.. hopefully it'll not be busy as it had been so far. I am not a jonah and i want to stay that way !! 3rd call is a bit heavy as i have to do referrals from every corner of the hospital as well as deciding to admit patients referred from all around Malaysia !!!! Sounds important huh ? hehehehehe but i can tell you when the pager bleeps you go like.. hmmmmmmmm... sapa la pulak nih??? *smile*

Fever..

Hmmm..came back from work quite early today. Felt a bit warm.. and ill "ish". switched on the air-cond and i started to shiver. Damn !! So unlike me... and moments later , the febrile body. I'm having fever !! My eyes a bit heavy.. having body aches ( aka myalgia ) and my abdomen felt bloated. No vomiting nor bleeding tendencies though . Hmmmm.. esok nak kena check darah ; dengue scare man. FYI - my ward ; the great P2 was positive for jejentiks !! imagine that , it is in the ward itself we're breeeding Aedes Aegypti and Albopictus !!!Oh.. i'm feeling so ill.

Anyway , tribute to dearest wifey who braved the rain to buy me Bubur McD. Thank you dear. MUahsss.. ( haks.. ni nak super points ni !! ) .Honestly dear, if you're reading this blog ; thank you so much for the bubur. You;re so kind. Well , given the circumstances i would have done the same if i were you.

Feeling really heavy now. God , my mails were full of TEKADmons msgs !! haks.. its the post-TEKAD rush i guess . Hope that this spirit will last!!! Need to go to bed now though.. so tired man.. so tired..Liverpool won yesterday and The matador scored his first goal !! bravo bravo.. Nak menang League cup ni tak lama lagi ? soo any takers to Cardiff ?? hehehehehhe

Mysterious Death..

The tycoon who passed away yesterday ; alleged as "accident" was my dad's close confidant. They were classmates during their RMC days back from 66 - 69.The way he died was really mysterious ; police however claimed there was no foul play. However he had 2 gunshot wounds ; one on the chest and the other on the abdomen. Funny though , if he indeed try to shoot himself twice and on peculiar areas.
I'm sure Dr Sharifah Safura ( Malaysia's no 1 Forensic Consultant ; Ballistics ) of HKL will determine the cause and mechanism of death. Only her report will confirm whether he was shot or the bullet was self inflicted.
Very spooky though , to die in such a way. Lots of rumours on the air - very scandalous !!!! Anyway , Al Fatihah...

Datuk Syed Ibrahim Syed Mohamed, the man famous for putting Jaguar cars on Malaysian roads, was found dead in the swimming pool of his bungalow with a gunshot wound.
There was a blood trail all the way from the study of his Bukit Tunku home to the pool.
Police found a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver in the study. A spent shell was found in one of the revolver's chambers and initial investigations showed that Syed Ibrahim was the licensed owner of the weapon.
City police chief Datuk Mustafa Abdullah said police had classified the case as "sudden death" pending completion of investigations.

PROJEK TEKAD 2005

Wow. Just came back from Projek Tekad - an initiative organized by PROMUDA in contributing back to the society. Its this typical project of tutoring / coaching of students held for 2 days ; encouraging students to realize their potential and know about the future. I am proud to be a part of this project for this year - held in Pusat Ko Kurikulum HUlu Langat , Selangor 29 - 30th January. But us , the fascilitators aka the coaches was there since friday evening ; hence the reason for me not to blog ; almost a week dah ni !!!!

It was indeed a very keen experience for me as this is the first time i am involved in a big scale project with PROMUDA. Otherwise , i'm quite comfortable with the programme aS i've been involved in a lot of courses and camps with students esp with BTN.( i am their instructor / fascilitator ) The programme initiated here is a bit different from the ones i;m used to being into ; but it was worthwhile because in things like this there are lots of things to learn.

MY champions ( thats what we call the kids ) were called Versacorp. hahahaha.. gile Apprentice nyer influence. But the unique thing is i only had 5 kids with me. I was suppose to be with another coach to fascilitate group of 10 students ; dunno what happened TO her so i was with the cute 5 ; namely Che Yin , Faizal , Sara , HAlimah and Saleha. All fifth formers from Ampang and Hulu Langat. They were shy in the beginning ; very very shy !!!! they were not even trying to talk to each other during the logo and group name session . The other coaches who saw the "problem" tried to rescue the kids when i purposely was letting them to sort it out on their own . They had the potential , i left them alone for a while to create stress in them and when the time limit was about to be up - i dived in and pushed them.. and wallah.. i was so happy that they came up with something which was fairly good. and thenn , after they broke their ice - the group dynamics starts.They did fairly well in their tasks during the 2 days and i was proud of them. I gave Che Yin the champion of champions from my group because of the change that he showed during the activities ; from somebody who looked not interested to somebody who was pro active and smiled a lot after that.




I brought a melon from home - it was suppose to be a learning for the group. But as there was only 5 of them , dah la kecik2.. so i decided to withdraw the idea. They were suppose to bring around the melon wherever the group goes ; regardless !! It would have been fun but as i was only handling 5 ; i reckon i could concentrare on their individual traits.

Their stories were the typical problems of adolescent. I hope that from what i;ve shared with them i've gave them some idea about life and about vision. They'll be taking their SPM this year and i wish the best from them. I know i cant change them in 2 days but i hope that what i've told and shared with them would encourage and motivate. Well , i will never know the impact until after this.

As for the programme in whole , it was well organized .The modules were mind boggling and certainly made them to think and use up their brains.Even when we went through it during TOT , it challenged us.Sleeping in tents again after so long was indeed refreshing. Reminded me of my active ko-ko days ! I was so excited that i brought everything that was essential for a true camp ; my parang , rafia , head torch , sleeping bag and my rough clothes. hahahahaha so keen ..

Mal laughed at me during the opening ceremony when he found out that i was the designated " USTAZ" to read the opening DOA. It was a role familiar to me during my school days.hahaaha jangan lepas ni jadik official doa reciter for PROMUDA sudah la !!!! But i suppose , being trained in such a way during my school days , i had to fulfill the fardu kifayah regarding being imam during prayers and etc. I know i am not pious by nature but somebody had to do it during the programme. Bagus jugak , at least it will help me to improve myself on the spiritual side. btw Ziad.. hang nyer suara mmg sedap ah time azan subuh semalam. pastu petang nyanyi bagi kalah hazami lak tu.. tension jer muka HAZAMI.. hehehehehe. DIL.. bila lagi nak challenge ??

The company ( coaches & secretariate ) were kewl too.So dedicated and responsible. TABIK SPRING BANG !!! Had lots of new friends from various sectors. enjoyed my time with DIL .. the one and only DIL.. mmbbuaaahhhss.. it was fun working and being a "fair" judge with you.. muahahahass. and something really did caught our eyes and imagination didn't it DIL ? muahahahahahass...

But unfortunately the venue was not suitable as it was meant for rough outdoor activities. It was a shame not to utilize the potential which was rich with extreme exciting activities. I could see the students frustration going through our modules which was in fact ; quite indoorish in nature and sometimes if it was not lead through well by the coaches ; it can be boring at times. Quite a big lot was there before and their expectations were high for challenging physical activities. ( haks.. i remembered my MMSC camp which gave me a headache when the same sentiment arose !!! ) If i am given the chance to be involved in the Next Tekad programme , i hope to be "sub-con" into the module team because i have few ideas and experience that i can share with the rest of the management.



MY MMSC Camp 2002

There are few things which concerned me that i reckon can be improved.I will give the feedback to the CORE team later.( Perhaps i can name myself the NECK team ?? hahahahaha ) Being involved with fragile and labile kids is not easy. We have to be careful of everything that we do as it will definitely inject some influence into their values about life. Whether one realizes it or not ; we are their role models during the programme and perhaps after.Impression and image is important especially from our side ; the Young Professionals. It is easy for people to misjudge and perceive. Therefore , this is one aspect that we should emphasize especially in dealing with other parties who may have absolute different background and experience.

I had fun.. so much fun. It was fullfiling to run away from my hectic schedule in the hospital . Especially regarding my BLOCKED transfer to anaesthesia. I hope that i can find some digital pics from other coaches so that i can post it in my blog for remembrance.

Qurban experience..

Well , the morning went melancholic when we visited Myfzal's tomb in Damansara. After reciting yassin for arwah dad in law - we went to Myfzal's resting place.It was a bit emotional for me.. don't know why tears decided to show itself this morning... I was touched when i saw the plants which was planted on the day of Myfzal's burial 20.04.2004. It was alive !!! thought that the plants would have died long time ago coz it was put on ad hoc basis ; papa just picked out the plant from anearby tomb ?? haks.. Anyway - the vision of Ady's son ; Amar Kareem came through my mind ( saw him yesterday at Nurrun's place.. cute boy !!!) ; maybe because he was born on the day Myfzal was expected to be delivered... 31st July 2004... Sometimes we tend to wish things could have happened differently , but everything is Allah's will and we should be contented and redha.....

Enough of the sad drama ..hehehe both me n wifey went to SMTTDI for our Qurban !! haks.. it was a new experience for Haniza as she can hardly remember the last time she went for one. Our cow was COw number 8.. medium size benign looking cow.. hehehe.. And when the moment arrive , guess who decided to do the sembelih ? yup.. me lah !! haks .. my first time doing the slaughter. A bit gory with blood splashing here and there but then hey.. i;ve been through worse in the Operating theatre !! haks.. Sort of impressed my wife with my courage muahahahas.. *smile* The fact was I was the only "tuan punya" who dared enuff to do the slaughtering. senang jer..

ANyway , we got our share with one ekor. Decided to leave it in TTDI for bibik to clean it and perhaps a bowl of sup ekor tomorrow !!! Haniza's mum cooked beriyani for lunch and it was really nice.. with the sulky juicy meat made into kurma and rendang.. fresh after qurban !!!

Liverpool lost again tonight.. Basketful of rice.. why i may ask.. why ????

At the end of everything ; tt was a kewl day.and glad that i went to visit "ahlil-firdaus" this morning. I know that you're looking down on me from heaven...aammiinn..

Aidilaadha 2005

Salam Aidiladha !!!! Selamat Hari Raya !!!!

Well , the day went quite slow today. woke up late but just in time for the prayers. Its raya haji and the atmosphere is not so plentiful compared to raya puasa.
The mood was not there ; but ok lar. we didn't go anywhere today expect to Mak Dj and Mama TTDI. Anyway , its friday today. Two sunat prayers wajib to be done as jamaah !! well , in Islam we call it Hari Raya Akhbar. it means BIG !! It was a bit hot today , but besides that nothing exciting actually happened.

Anyway , myself a bit sleepy today. Not quite in the mood to celebrate gallantly. We will be going to Paklongs place in Bangi after maghrib prayers. Pot Luck party but it should be a good gathering. Apparently Mak Uda will be bringing her favourite dish ; lasagna. mmmmm.. looking forward for that.

Anyway , tomorrow wil be eventful. The qurban in SMTTDI will be done in the morning. Haks.. cant wait to see my precious QURBAN and perhaps perform the qurban myself.

btw - Congratulations Megat Harris !! 2nd child was born on monday !! haks.. cayalah , cepat giller.. 2 dah.. both girls.. haks.. they're both around here so i should be visiting them in Kota Damansara soon.. "smile"

Busy weekend..

Wow.. it was indeed a very busy weekend for me !! Let me recap..



1) Yes .. Malaysia improved their Tiger Cup performance by winning the third place play-off !!! Kewl.. did not watch the game though but i was happy that Malaysia was able to pick up themselves after that bad lost in BJ. VIVA MALAYSIA !!!!




2) Liverpool stupidly LOST to MAn U .. AGAIN..1-0 arrghh.. tension , tu la tak bule ke both the teams i support win on the same day. It was a dissapointing match by Liverpool , still the same attitude and lacksture.But i cannot hate Liverpool lar.. too sayang to do so..




3) HAks. i missed the KAMCHENG karaoke session on Saturday afternoon. Damn !! missed the fun and i wish i was there.I can imagine the way the gang laugh and laugh while listening to each other's singing. I was actually attending TOT( Training of trainers ) for TEKAD SELANGOr fascilitators. It was kewl anyway meeting new friends and also plan for the camp that we will be having late January. The activities done was quite fun , well i made it FUN !! MY group ok lar.. but i know it will be better during the programme ; handling like 200 kids !! Honestly , i cant wait for it to begin coz i know that it is something that i really do enjoy !!




4) I was on call last nite.. busy nite but i survived !Signed 2 burial permits though. haks.. and one good news - i have an interview with UITM this Wednesday - regarding joining them as a lecturer. haks.. will this mean i will be joining my wife soon ? hmmmmm...let time takes it path !! hahahahaha

Nearly TV reality show stars...

the whole Explorace Season 1 gang wannabees 2003, look for me n Azad..

Watching the intro episode of Explorace Season 2 last nite reminded me of the time me n a close aide of mine.. My kazen by marriage Anjek san on our attempt for Season 1. Haks.. but obviously we did not qualify ( having enuff commercial value !!! ) to be the participants on the much awaited Malaysian edition of The Amazing Race !!

It was June 2003 and we were called up for the Audition ; the producers shortlisted 20 teams.Of all these , only 12 were to appear in the series . we were quite well known by the other participants then. This was due to our application video which was aired on TV repeatedly for the PROMO !! MAKE OUR DREAMS COME TRUE... ( behind Azad's Ford Ranger ) . We called ourselves the Incredible Hulks and i can say we did make an impact during the audition !! There were 3 stages ; IQ test / swimming and running !! I nearly drowned during the swimmin part but haks.. most of other participants thought it was one of our gimmick !! muahahaha.. and we laughed LOUDLY all the way with the MBUUAAHSS spirit and sportsmanship!!

However when the results came out most of the others were surprised we were not chosen. Based on our performance during the audition ;we were one of the "IN TEAM" with our bubbly attitude.But somehow it did not attract the producers to choose us. Well , both a bit overweight and not really having the hunky tv-appeal look i suppose !! mUahahahahass.. Azad was really dissapointed with Nathan ( the producer ) he actually boycotted the show .. Did not even watch a SINGLE EPISODE !!!!! hahahahaha.. Dendam kesumat !! I guess if we were chosen then , we would have given the winners a run for their 100 K !!Or maybe the winners , but Allah is GREAT.

Well , life went on.. We got to be on TV anyway.. Me.. with my TV3 SEMPURNAKAN HARIMU fame.. hahahaha..publicity murahan.. aND Azad appearing with his wife in WHo Will WIn - Interior DECO competition on NTV7 !! Well , there is still 2005 and beyond. Who knows i might be on again.. haks.cam cite Astana IDaman kaa.. haakss.. my golden dream. so you guys - if any of you are in touch with any tv producers.. Make my dream come true... MUAHAHAHAHAS

Qurban 2005

Guess what ? This year will be my first year ever taking an active part in qurban. I reckon it is justified as a remembrance to god for his gracefulness ; my ambition fullfilled in being a doctor despite the yoyo route that i have to take. Thank you to Allah for his blessings. Coincidentally , me n part of the gang ( Azad , Mafiz n Megat ) have combined "forces" to take part in this years SMTTDI qurban. We have one cow to ourselves !! hahahaha Well dont think it'll be as cute as the pic :)

I reckon SMTTDI maybe the only school in KL who organizes such fiesta every year during Aidiladha. PArents and their children will take part in the qurban - having contributing money for the qurban . Mum n dad had alwayz been supportive but this year will be the first for me paying for my share.. It will be performed by Ustaz and his honchos.. the unique thing about SMTTDI's qurban is if you are daring enuff.. one can choose to do the qurban themselves..

Now we're actually in the midst of naming our qurban cow.. haks.. My idea being Cisse / Senoki / Macam Setan.. hahahahaaha we'll see any other bright ideas from the gang ..Mafiz was wondering if we could spray our cow so it'll be hip hop during the qurban !! hahahaha kapla jingga betul.. Raya Haji next week eih... will be celebrating in KL though...

The reality of WTF bosses..

Today i was introduced to the dirty cirle of who's the boss. And i'm not sure whether i can cope with situations like this.I am a very practical and i hate bereaucracies as well as arrogant individuals.

Yesterday's call was good as now i know i am not JONAH. was able to sleep from about 3am to 7am..No interludes in between.Slept like a bear !!! and that was good ..really good. No patients died and alhamdulillah. *smile*

I decided to confront the Timbalan Pengarah of HKL who is in charge of MO postings ; my tenure in medicine will end soon on 31st of january. I've actually met the Head of Anaesthesia and she's quite cool about me to be in her department. My letter was sweet but TPHKL Dr S was a total B***H.Her first statement was , " orang macam you ni yang menyusahkan kerja kitaorang" like WHAT THE F**K??? I want to do something that i am interested in and she said that ? Well , being me i was not so polite as always with my sharp tongue.. tua tak tua, so what? My temper was apparent and it was obvious . The Ketua Penolong Pengarah Dr R was there too when i was literally arguing with the Timbalan Pengarah.

Apparently she said that i should stay in Medicine until there is opening in anaesthesia department - the same old story she would ramble about for generations. I gave her my piece of mind that actually made her quite pissed off with me.. She even mentioned that " Kalau taknak buat medicine baik takyah jadi doktor.. LIke WTF again ??? what is she doing being the timbalan pengarah ?? Being me , i argued with her to the surprise of Dr R. Well , in the end she sort of exercised her power by saying.. that i will remain in medicine until she says not.. haks.. who does she think she is ??

Well , i do agree with some of her arguments regarding the postings and our responsibilities as government officers .However i was not happy with her manners.I have arguments of my own - if i am not in the posting that i like , will it be fair to my patients ? I work with passion and i do things to the best of my ability ; things like this can only deteriorate my enthusiasm and i pity patients seeking government health service. I can really be mean at times ( ask my house officers )

Sometimes , old timers like her should realize that the world has change and it is because of their species ; the government service is crap.I pity those who are not as outspoken as i am. And no wonder doctors quit because is it worth it in the end ? She can handle it better but being from the old generation ; i'm not quite happy with it. Silap ah buat orang dendam.. My dendam is dendam kesumat.. She'll know who not to play around with..

Well, this is justttt the beginning not the end. I will sort this out. by hook or by crook i will get what i want.. Huuuhaahahahaahahaa.. *macam gelak evil lak*

Embarrasing...

Something embarrasing happened to me today. Well, i'm one of those fellas who dislikes filling up my fuel tank. I will leave it to the last minute , when the indicator needle was absolutely screaming for the tank to be filled in.

Well, today was one of those episodes. Initially i wanted to fill her up on my way to work. But takpe laa... then , by right i'm suppose to do that before coming back.. but.. takpe laah.. the needle was bellow E but somehow i wanted to gamble ..

AANNDD.. as i was passing jalan mahameru to jalan damansara , my sweet lil red sAtria decided to stop .. !! haaaakkssss.. well , deserves me right.. right ??? hahahaha i had to walk about 3 kilometers to the nearest petrol station for fuel !!! It was such a terrible experience , being 6 pm when the traffic itself is not so kind to you !!!!

Haks.. well , i know that NEXT TIME .. i will not let the indicator to be lit !! Padan muka sendiri aaa... :)

70,000 Malaysians humiliated....

WHat can i say ?? Malaysia trashed by Indonesia on their own backyard. 4 - 1 DAMN !!! I was in BJ stadium when it happened. Its so sad.. our hopes dented after a pathetic display by our national team in the second half.

I was there with wifey , Dil and Nor. We went quite early ; me from the hospital directly to the stadium at 5.30pm. Parked our car by IMU , and we ate an early dinner ; DIl eating the traditional pre-match meal ; fish and chips. " Macam kat oversea lak " i quote.The response from fellow Malaysians was wonderful ; sea of yellow jerseyed supporters walking with the Malaysian flag to the stadium. Wow , it had been quite some time since i last saw sea of our supporters in the stadium.

We were on tier 1 ; 104 and the seats were wonderful.Very near to the hardcore rambling Malaysian supporters. A bit hot but ok lar.. what da ya expect ?? Malaysia mah.. not Anfield.And as the kick off got nearer - almost all the seats were filled !! My estimation , more than 70,000 turned up. wow , up to the third tier. The initial NEGARAKU was inspiring and it did inspire our team for a while...




When Khalid scored , THE WHOLE STADIUM ERUPTED !!! though we were lucky AGAIN !!! but it was good celebration ..and at that moment everybody thought that TEaM Malaysia will be sky high with confidence. UNfortunatelyyyy... NOT !!!

Indon actually played the better game , the fluidity and dynamic movement of the forwards was evident by the number of mistakes made by our reliable TOWKAY ( Hafiz Zamani ) . When the indon equalized , BICKSEI made a STUPID change of tactic , thinking we can defend our lead. He put in a defender replacing the injured Kit KOng. BUT he was WRONG .. pushing up hafiz and rusdi as midfielders was CRAP.. and the swift Indon attackers capitalized our weak defense - hence the blizzard of goals !!! OOOHH.. SUCH FRUSTRATION !!!! and we were hammered with another 3 goals nearing the end.

Overall it was an enjoyable evening. my wife who i seldom hear swearing , sweared at Khalid for his lack of enthusiasm in the game !! haks.. And DIl , was really emotional !!! I was just stunned .. so stunned by how our team faltered.. the Indon fans were dancing in glory !! as they should seeing the superiority against us. Although we are known to be crap ; last nite , THE TEAM was simply outclassed by the indon's speed and skills.

Anyway , though dissapointed , Congrats Malaysia ; who qualified to the semis but somehow when we dont have the quality ; it will show when it matters !!!! It was sad to see dissapointed fans walking back in despair and pain. Some came as far as Kedah ( saw the school bus with Kedah plate number parked by the highway on my way back ) to support their national pride.Wished that the outcome was the opposite tonight.. :(

Its judgement day. Malaysia will meet Indonesia tonite in BUkit Jalil to determine the other finalist for Tiger Cup 2004. SIngapore qualified after trashing Myanmar in a high tempered match in Kallang. Whoever watched the game can feel the frustration among Myanmar players having to play with 9 men and had to surrender the 2-0 lead. Asian football is very unpredictable. Playing aT HOME do not give the advantage desired.

It was a bloody rough match. I admired the fighting spirit showed by the burmese as they were really hungry for success. Hope that the Malaysian boys would emulate the same determination and vision.

I'm going to the stadium tomorrow !!! A MUST SEE EVENT DEAR !!! will not miss it for the world !! My only worry is the Indon supporters.They will come in numbers and i hope that fellow Malaysians will do their country proud by giving their upmost support !!! On paper , Indonesia looks dangerous with the return of their two prolific banned players. We need to defend well with good counter attacks. I really hope that Amri Yahyah would play more football instead of diving here and there. He has lots of potential but sometimes he can be a brat !! Khalid is very unpredictable ; dont really hope much on him. Liew Kit Kong reminds me of a dear friend ( currently a doctor too in Penang ) and i hope that he will shine !!!

Haks.. time flies so fast. Its 2005 today , 15 years to 2020 and i'll be 29 this year. Wow, i cant believe its 2005 now .

This year's national celebration was moderate. The PM ordered for all planned celebrations witheld in view of respecting the Tsunami tragedy. Kewl PM , never thought that any PM in Malaysia would have the courage to do so.Haks , but i usually dont celebrate new year either. Usually i'll be at home watching tv which usually cater good entertainment before and after the countdown. It was this one year , me n azad actually went to KLCC on his JAGUH to watch the fireworks. And my , the road was damn jammed !!!! Seeing that made me pledge not to go downtown KL during new year's eve.

Just came back with my wifey - watched the musical PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Phantom was really one macho lad ( i like his deep voice esp when he does his REM thingy !! ) The music was nice ; according to wifey exactly like the stage musical. But honestly , it was a bit draggy at times. I was asleep 3 times during the long winded rendition conversations . tidur..bangun.. tak habis lagi !! hahahahahaha mind you, YOu'll notice this when you watch it. Seriously do watch it in the movies as this will help you to wake up with the loud music. If you watch it at home even via DVD - you'll sleep !!! I promise you that !!
