When the trailer for the new Indiana Jones movie came out , I was all excited because my all time hero is on screen again and the first chance i had , I went to One Utama and watched it last week. I adored him since Raiders of the Lost Ark ; I did remember my dad brought me to the movies to watch it but I don't think i appreciate the movie enough until I had my hands on the VHS version in the 80s. My first recollection of Indy was in the Temple of the Doom. And I've watched the movie multiple times ! Mcm Star Wars la jugak.. hahahaha
Let me tell you of a story , in 1989 - when the Last Crusade came out in the cinema. I really wanted to watch it. Cinemas were not as easily reachable as how it is today . RIA in TTDI closed in 1987 so the nearest cinema was Sentosa in Section 17 ! We were still in form 1 and fairly "kampung" that we did not dare to take the bus ( 244 or 50 ; Sri jaya !! ) to KL. Only later in life , we learned about Odeon , Rex and Coliseum.. hahaha.. budak2 betul.
Mafiz and I then planned , ( after our succesful expedition to Subang Parade ) to cycle to Sentosa ! Hahaha.. I can't understand why we did not opt to take the bus but maybe the spirit of an adventurer was there that it would be more exciting to cycle there !! Of course at that time LDP or any of the big highways were not there yet. At that time , there was this small road , JALAN DAMANSARA ( i mean really small... 2 lane jer..) leading from KL to Taman Tun. We did not have a map so we were unable to estimate the distance from TTDI to Sentosa !
The show was to start at 115pm , so we agreed to meet at Mafiz's place at 1130am ! Somehow , we estimated that the trip might take more than an hour !! ( hahaha..budak2 betul ) I think I was riding my dodgy Turqoise BMX and Mafiz was with his fluorescent green BMX. Hahaha.. ( Mafiz , kalau ada gambar kita naik basikal zaman2 tu..post ek.. I don't have lar.. )
We started our trip towards the Pasar Besar Taman Tun and then we passed the BAtu 7 bicycle shop of the Old Cowboy Town. ( where the controversial Puay Chai Chinese school was ) It was a sunny and hot afternoon , we were sweating already ! After the ascend to Section 17.. ehh.. dah sampai !! Hahahaha.. It only took us like 20 minutes kot and we arrived at 12pm ! The ticket counter was not even open !! Hahahahah We then had to wait in front of 7 eleven with our Mister Softee to buy the ticket.. hahahahaha Apa lah..
It was fun , Well I guessed how we got there then was an adventure itself making watching the movie more meaningful. These memories came back clearly as I stepped into One Utama's GSC the other day... :)

Hahaha... thanks for bringing this up. I totally forgot 'that' part of life where almost everywhere is reachable by bicycle.
Remember when we even rode our bicycle to the Lake Garden from TTDI? Then the next morning we rode from Lake Gardens to Titiwangsa for the treasure hunt on bicycle with Wan Edrin and Shahril? Then we toured the whole of KL on bicycle then rode back all the way to TTDI on our bicycle?
Gile terror kita. Hahaha... Sekrang ni pergi kedai mamak 300 metres pun naik kereta. Femalas!
oh yes.. that treasure hunt ! My father was so worried with our antiques that he escorted us from TTDI to Titiwangsa at 6 am in the morning !
Somehow , we were really "against" technology and steam power was the save of the day.. :)
hahahaa..macam nak menangis baca ni!! I remember clearly how both of us cycled to Sec17 to watch Indiana Jones! Those were the days..the motto was..'Just do it! Think later!'
Azad, I used to cycle to your house at zaaba when we were in Std 2! Penat gile!
p/s: the furthest i rode my bmx was to bukit cherakah shah alam..
hahaah..oh yaaa..kita pernah kayuh ke subang parade!pperrrghh..lupa!! Kita ikut jalan mana? Via Kelana Jaya and Subang exit kan?
TU la Mafiz , masa tu NKVE baru bukak , Subang parade was the biggest mall in Malaysia . If i am not mistaken , Radzlan pun ikut expedition tu sekali. We followed NKVE from damansara toll to Subang toll..
Eh, what happened to that wayang in Section 17? Ada lagi ke?
I remember while waiting for the movie to start, we used to read comics kungfu (masa tu in black and white) at shop near the wayang.
Pastu kita selalu repair basikal kat cowboy town tu kan?
