Malam Puisi Kemanusian HKL 2024

This was the event which felt like a dream to be apart of. Amazing, having to recite your own poetry amongst not just fellow colleagues, but 2 sasterawan Negara!! Anwar Ridwan and Rahman Shaari!! Gile!! Can you imagine me sharing the same stage with them? Truly awesome and once in a lifetime opportunity😊
It was the annual event again organized by Dato Alzamani of HKL- I thought last year was already grand but this year he went all out! Having the Malaysia’s authority of arts and literature to recognize event itself was amazing! Thank you DBP for acknowledging our efforts as part of expanding interest and diversity of how literature can be interpreted.
It was an awesome event where the DBP social media team telecasted us live in their FB. Of course most of us amateurs felt the inferiority complex in showcasing our attempt at writing and performing poetry in front of the real expert audience. However, as it was what we felt as sincerely as we can, we presented all from the heart.
I was certainly happy to be invited as how I have been involved from 3 years ago. This year’s event was superbly organized and I do hope to get invited again next year.
This is for keeps and something I will cherish for the rest of my life. Bucket list ticked!!

Long lay off.. really long!

Somehow today I decided to browse my blog. Subhanallah :) I've not put in entry since late September 2021 after returning to Malaysia! Gile lama. A hiatus for over a year from the blogosphere ( not that blogs are what people really read anymore). This is the biggest gap of my blog entries ever! Perhaps to Intelligence who would browse and read through my blog, its as if I was assassinated after arriving in Malaysia Hahahaha

Today is nearly the end of October 2022. Wow.. we are currently in the endemic stage of Covid19 ( despite not really officially declared by WHO). The horrors of covid19 effects to the society norms is slowly thinning out. More people are being comfortable not wearing mask in public ( especially open areas). We are all slowly moving on to our previous lives, previous past times and habits which looked like a distant memory.

A lot of things have happened to me too. I am still alive Alhamdulillah and I've moved back to KL. My Afghanistan stint did not go too well with some top people 😄 ( not really sure why though - perhaps I will comment in one of my future postings). But Allah has his ways and qada and qadar has chartered my life to where I am now. Its very interesting especially when recently I heard first hand from one of the staff of the attitude and tactics that were used in trying to discharge and disregard my role there. Haha manusia manusia...

I am not in Gleneagles Medini anymore after more than 5 years being there. Honestly I do miss the place as in a way, I had charted the way anaesthesia is practiced there. Kira one of the early group who started Medini. I am proud at where they are now especially my GA nurses. They have matured well and doing multiple high end cases which they would never have dreamed off when entering OT.

I am now practicing in Sunway Medical Centre Velocity in Cheras. We have just celebrated our 3rd birthday and I must say they are thriving well. SMCV/s main driver is the maternal and child health and the practice here is definitely of a different POV from what I did in Iskandar Puteri. It has been 3 months since I moved back and I am happy to have done so. Allah certainly knows what we don't know.

Seriously they are so many things to write about in reflection of what had happened in the past 1 year. Totally can't believe it myself. But yeah.. may I have the istiqamah to continue writing as sayanglah.. I've gone so far since my first blog entry in 2005. It is definitely an interesting diary of my life and happenings. Dah boleh buat buku hahaha

The biggest adventure of my life

I am now in the biggest adventure of my life. I've always dreamt to do this. Always on my bucket list and this is the moment and time. Pray that all is well.
Insha Allah.

We have yet to win the war

We have yet to win the war.
#Kitamestimenang #Frontliners #Sentiasabersediaberkhidmat #Hipnotis

Ended my Covid19 “fellowship” in Sungai Buloh ICU. There were few of us from the private sector who answered DG’s Hisham Abdullah SOS call for help to combat Covid19 with KKM. The projection then was we were heading for an overwhelming surge of cases in mid April.

Thank you to Hasbe Zuraina Abu Bakar (CA Setapak) and Intensivists Aliza (PPUKM) and Kamal Basyar (KPJ Rawang) for coming in together in such short notice. There were other KKM Anaesthetists too from around the country who came over to join the team in HSB.

It was a very fulfilling April. It was great to be amongst old acquantainces and new generation colleagues (my previous HOs and MOs are now specialists😊 sudah tua lor...) ; the last line of defence in ICU. I really admire the dedication and hardwork that was put in by all of them. It was a good refresher to remind myself why I decided to join the anaesthesia and intensive care fraternity many years ago. Alhamdulillah, the expected surge was dampened but it was not an easy task to manage something unknown.

My kudos to the HOD of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Shaiful Zaman for his leadership and meticulous planning of manpower to ensure that the care given at the national centre of Covid19 to be the best that any centre can offer. If we were stretched, 100 ICU beds were ready to be activated. My hats off to Intensivists: Lee CK Chew Kiok and Eng Kar Seng  (Ismail from HKL in early April) for their astuteness and dedication which lay people may not realize their contribution. A very stressful responsibility as the whole country was watching us.

To the department’s Anaesthetists and Medical Officers, thank you for your hospitality and I had a great time working together in a very dynamic youthful group. It made me feel young again to be there with you guys. Hahaha last but not least the pillars of the system, ICU nurses and MAs who without them the ICU will collapse. Their sacrifice are legendary and unmatchable whilst looking after the sickest of the sick. I’ve learnt a lot from all of you.

The 2nd wave came and we prepared ourselves for the worst. Alhamdulillah, the graph did not peak as how it was projected.

The early morning handovers were legendary as we went through the progress of each case in detail. Plans of extubation and discharges brought smiles but reintubation and deteriorations were perplexed upon as we were looking for positive solutions. Practicing social distancing was a challenge but that is the new norm that all of us have to endure. Im not too sure if I’d miss the donnings and doffings; Ive never felt so clean in my life having multiple showers daily! At times it was mind boggling handling the complex cases but thats our line of work. Being the person to update the next of kin everyday can be an emotional roller coaster ride. We only aim to care to the best of our ability.

We have yet to win the war against Covid19. The battle is ongoing. Lets all do our bit from wherever we are.

P/S Labour day has always been a public holiday but there will be an oncall team covering actively the hospitals all over the world.

Happy 43rd Birthday

This year it was a low key affair. 2018 was a blast because I peaked Da Feng and had a birthday celebration there last year.
Alhamdulillah, I am 43 years old this year. A year older and circumstances has made it that it is the most challenging year of my life so far. But hey, no regrets yeah! Alhamdulillah, Syukur for all his blessings and I would not ant my life to be any other way.
Its ironic when you thought you've settled down but the fact is you are challenged with the most fundamental reasons to live life. Allah is great; there will be no time where you are not tested to your cores.
Got myself a cool pulut cake. It was just not nicely designed but at the same time nice! Thanx to my staff for organizing it.
43 and beyond and may Allah bless :)

PASKAL - Sentiasa terbaik!! - movie review

Image result for paskal the movie

I was asked to do a review on this movie, "lama dah you tak review movie eh?". I watched this yesterday, at noon ( ponteng kerja kejap hahaha). My expectations before the show? Well, The trailer was good but how many times have we been fooled by awesome trailers especially malay movies. I was crossing my fingers hoping that PASKAL will not receive the same fate. I rate PASKAL highly because I have had the opportunity to be with them during TRYLA many years ago. Our own "Navy Seal" if one wants to compare.

From Wikipedia :
"The Pasukan KhaLaut (Naval Special Warfare Forces, Jawi: ڤاسوكن خاص لاوت), commonly abbreviated PASKAL, is the principal special operations force of the Royal Malaysian Navy.
PASKAL's task is to conduct small-unit maritime military operations that originate from, and return to a river, ocean, swamp, delta or coastline. PASKAL also perform unconventional warfareguerrilla warfarecounter-guerrilla warfarejungle warfarecounter-terrorismclose protection, hostage rescue and foreign internal defence."

I went in without reading the full review, saw the ratings and thought hmm should be good. and..

My verdict?

WOOOWWW ! TEBABOOOO! Awesome yeah!! 10/10 from me :)

The plot:
The plot was how you expect it to be. Good vs evil and how evil stemmed from injustice of the system (lateral thinking) - Cite Batman & Black Panther pun same theme. Nobody is wrong and nobody is perfect. The 2 big incidents were based on 2 true ops and that gave the goosebumps while watching the events.
The characters were real and the dialogue were not pretentious. Seeing the flashbacks of their training an initiation was surely heartwarming. They are the best! I wished that we could have seen the test of throwing them in the middle of the sea with all limbs tied, and waiting them at shore. Imagine berenang macam tu!!

The action sequence:
I must praise the  meticulous details being given attention to on the weapons and assets of TLDM that was shown. It was as real as one can get. Submarine tu cool habis :) I guess having the Navy and PASKAL themselves breathing down the producers neck, they have to produce this perfectly. It is our special forces dignity at stake! True enough, the director brought justice to this piece.

Action sequence were hollywood standard. Check it out Tom Cruise!! I had the thought that we might go Hong Kong style where the action sequence maybe good but there will always be something missing unlike the Hollywood action flicks. But PASKAL wasn't Hong Kong! Betul cam hollywood siot.. Hahaha Okay, they maybe some logic stuff you would want to consider but hey, tengok Rambo lagi mengarut oii.. Give credit to our own local production! Thumbs up!

Overall it was an enjoyable movie. I maybe biased because I love Malaysia but seeing our special forces being given the honour to be potrayed as such in this movie, memang tersentuh :)

Well done!

#Throwback Diagnosis2kemesir in Alexandria

This is one long dued post! I just realized i did not finish the series as I became disinterested to blog then haha The last part of our tour of Egypt in February.
SOon after Mansoura, our next and last destination for our book tour cum motivation talk was in Alexandria. Perhaps the most famous and historical part of the Egyptian history.
Alexandria was founded in 331 BC by Alexander the Great. Imagine, 331 BC! A civilization since then! I would be proud if i am one of them who originated from Alex. Bordering the Medditeranean sea, no wonder it became the point of civilization since then.
It was the capital city of the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine Egypt for 100 years until the muslim conquest in 641 AD. It was the second most powerful city of the ancient world after Rome.
Our entourage travelled for almost 6 hours from Mansoura to Alex. We arrived in Alex near sunset and we were to be ready for our next session that night. We rushed through the city, visited the outside of the oldest library in the world. My regret was we did not have enough time to tour the lod library museum. Apparently the original Taurat is inside along with a lot of other original biblical documents! History freaks like me would have gone orgasm in such displays. Takpelah, a point to return to this city one day insha allah!
We parted with AF, Azah and Aizzat as they needed to get back home on the weekend. So it was me, Ben and Din who would be the lead for the session that night.
We had a short discussion with Mr Skema, hehe the person in charge for the forum we were having that night before getting ready for the event. Our hotel was excellent! Those 1930s-40s type of hotel with the characteristic chained elevators in the middle of the hotel with butlers. Haha I thoroughly enjoyed the short stay in the hotel.
our breakup sessions OSCE style
forum panelist
En Faizal the main man!
Honestly the session could take all night for if it was not the Egyptian authorities. Haha Typical of them to shoo us away before time. Me were received and Mr Faisal (Chief MARA personnel in Alex) took us out for a treat in Alex after the talk.
The next day, our entourage went for a quickie tour of Alex. It is such a beautiful city on no wonder the powers of the past wanted to own this part of the land. Certainly a breather from the rest of Egypt that we have seen. The people here themselves were of a different kind compared to Cairo and Mansoura.
Alhamdulillah, it was a nice end to our tour. Definitely a breather for me away from my hectic schedule. I must thank Whitecoat Enterprise for DIAgnosis2 success. Most importantly to Kelab UMNO luar negara MANSOURA who organized this event and brought us here. It was wonderful to share our experience with our future colleagues Insha Allah.

Our Nurses day do in OT

It was not really planned but the nurses were excited to celebrate it. We were quite busy that day therefore the gap that we had we had a small makan-makan and cake cutting! The creativity came fast flowing and we had excellent simple decorations within hours. I must say that the OT staff are a very talented lot. They work hard and when its time to play, they know when to play hard!
Of course i would not bring my selfie stick to work. So we had to improvise, the concept is important so the best tool would be the drip stand. Haha! It was way heavy but the product, EXCELLENT!!
Thank you staff for all your efforts throughout my stay here.I can be a nuisance at times and i do ask for your apologies for my wrong doings. I can be an a*****e at times with my temper and perfection! Haha I've seen comments about how i acted and eprhaps it is good for me to have come across it. I am not perfect and i need feedback to make myself better. Lagi=lagi dah Haji ni..Haha
Insha Allah, to better care for our patients.

We will never know

I reviewed an unfortunate young man who was involved in a freak accident last weekend. He was on his way to work after sending his young kids to stay with his in laws. He was an abiding citizen, a loving husband, non smoker: a typical goody-goody guy.
His car lost control and hit the divider really hard. He was saved because he wore he seat belt but unfortunately the impact was so strong that it impacted his spine. Severe compressive fractures of his vetebral spine.
Now he is paralysed from waist down. He is due for a stabilizing operation of his back. The objective of the operation is not to cure but to stabilize his spine so that rehabilitation can start. It will be a very long journey to functionality. It was made known that he has 0 chance of recovering. He was told that we will not walk again.
I am sure at the back of his mind, many things are coming across especially his future, his wife, his kids. On the surface, he appears calm and controlled. Redha. I totally cannot imagine what he must be feeling inside. I totally cannot. It made me realize how things are never within our control. We can be the best at what we do, taking all the precautions but when Allah says that something will happen, it will. And it is with this scenario that i guess we really have to secure a good iman. Its not easy to lose your function when you yourself would be a dependable.
I pray for him that things will go OK. That whatever happened, has happened and still live has to go on. I am amazed by his own words,

"Kaki saya dah mati, tapi badan saya, jiwa saya belum. Belum lagi sampai ajal saya. Apa yang ada, itulah yang saya akan kederatkan untuk terus menyara keluarga saya doktor."

Throwback MedTweet.MY

Another collaboration :)
I was invited to be part of this team, MedTweet.MY which was initiated by an enthusiastic doctor, Khairul Hafidz. He is superly popular in twitter and has been helping to light up medical questions in twitterland. I guess the questions became to overwhelming that he got the idea of having multiple doctors who are active in twitter to hold on to a same platform. Of course the famous #perangmelawanmitos which i thought is very educational to the public.
I am happy to be part of this team which consist of multiple background and age. Of course we have a super active whatsapp group and it is the worldly discussion we have that can help to educate ourselves too. Its good to have colleagues helping you out in times when you wanna ask some questions for clarification.
                                         With Papa Li!
We had our first meet up weeks ago. It is only now that i am posting it up! Alhamdulillah, since then we have registered ourselves legally with ROS; making us a legitimate Society!
Insha Allah, again our main aim is to educate the public especially on social media!
Majulah MedTweet.MY!!

HIPNOTIS - Dr Mafeitz

29 April 2016.
A historical date for me. Alhamdulillah, my own book. Mini novel in PBAKL 2016 MAEPS Serdang.
And when you literally look at yourself :)
