Last day with PERDANA ASEAN 101

My trusted steed.. since the day Qayyum was born! It was older than him 😆 If you browse back my earlier blog you will find that I got this car on the week he was born. We needed a better car and it was just fortunate that Abang Fathul ( who was then a Proton dealer) offered a good price for a V6 Perdana car.

 https://mafeitz.blogspot.com/2005/12/pimp-my-ride-malaysia.html

It was a trusted steed and survived all the years. When I bought my F30 in 2015, I gave this to Papa for his daily use. Memang kena lanyak lah by everybody Mutee and Meng. How many times I had to settle the summons and the car went for a few overhauls for the damage. Alhamdulillah it was still in one piece.

Later when Qayyum joined PASUM, I thought of handing this car back to him. I could have bought a new car but I thought he would learn more about cars with this old Perdana. It was n a really bad condition when he first got it (haha memang tak terjaga langsung in Taman Tun) So we had to go back to square one to get this car back into its groove. I spent quite a lot to recond this car into a safe one! It was not safe wei when driving it the first time after taking it over from Papa. The reason I spent that much because I thought that it would be Qayyum's ride till forever!! Little did I know....

Qayyum had his bit of lessons meeting mechanics, workshops, breakdown towing haha I gather it was a really good experience for him to learn about taking care of a car. THis V6 had a good engine and certainly was an excellent steed. Aircond dia still menggigil weh hahaha

And when he accepted the offer to study in Bristol, I decided to sell off the car. The thought of passing it down to Qaisya was there; but... dont think she can handle this piece of art 😛 Qayyum managed to sort it out with CARSOME (Yup.. told him u settle it) and we ended up with Deficit la with the amount I spent to repair it! Should have sold it to the mechanic whilst repairing it as he offered a really good price!

And there we were, saying our farewell to the car who was as old as Qayyum himself..😀

Sending off/with Qayyum to UK Aug 24

It seemed like yesterday that Qayyum left for UK. This was on Merdeka day as I was lucky to even get flight tickets that week. It was a bit last minute and the closure of Malaysia airspace did not really help. Qayyum was on his way to Bristol and his first trip to UK ever. We decided to follow him as ni kan scholar mak-bapak so it would be a good break and time for us to bond before he starts his life in adulthood.
It was never in the original plan for him to go overseas to study. Despite his super  excellent results, it was just unfortunate for him to be during this age where he is discriminated because of his parent's income. He did apply to various scholarship bodies but he was rejected by them all - due to me being in the T20 bracket. I do feel that he should be recognized for his own ability and should be rewarded for that. But then I suppose fate has put it that way and Alhamdulillah, I did my save for MDQs education.

In fact, Qayyum had proceeded to be in UM - Asasi and doing very well in view of achieving his ambition into the Acturial Science programme. Little did I know, PASUM's curriculum is recognized by oversea institution and Qayyum was encouraged by his lecturers to apply for a place. He was in fact offered to a few places under the UCAS system!

Well, I didn't really know about it until he has successfully applied! I was fairly surprised but he was a very determined boy to fulfill his dream. And it is because of his own effort, I agreed to support him financially for his coming 3 years stint. He chose Bristol which I thought was a good place to be as it was not easy to be admitted there. He did apply for financial backing with a lot of instituition but it was off season and a bit last minute. I told him, dont worry.. if he wants it then I will support him to the best of my ability. Thats what parents do right?
Alhamdulillah, All the preparations went smoothly and there we were.. a good break for me and Eka too going to London 😆

Pre-UK 2024 doa selamat

We gathered as family and perhaps this was the last gathering we had with Arwah Mutee too. Allah was too kind for us to celebrate his return that day.😔

The Hafiz in the family

January 2023.
This was another landmark in the history of my life. Qayyum was celebrated in a small ceremony of Khatam in memorizing the whole of Quran. Alhamdulillah, he managed to achieve this at the end of his studies in SMISTA. I felt so proud for his efforts despite the difficulties he faced in persevering with the syllabus.
It was a shame that I could not attend this event. I am blogging this down to tell why I missed one of the most important event for Qayyum. I was scheduled then to be present in Syariah court on the same day as when this happened. It was fairly adhoc when Qayyum mentioned that the school was doing this khatam for the last four of them. It was not possible for me to postpone the hearing as it was a long awaited one. I however substituted myself with the presence of TokPa and TokMa for this memorable day. The least that I could do.
I am so proud of him for this and I am sorry for not being able to attend it physically. I would have done anything to come for this day but I had to make my choice due to priorities.
Well done Qayyum. Semoga ilmu AlQuran ini diamalkan sepanjang hayatmu.

Saham Akhirat

Last weekend i joined a friend of mine with his consistent charity week during weekends. He and his family would be visiting the asnafs in two places for breakfast. Sometimes they provide dinner as well. All the money is collected via FB- Salam Akhirat. I got to know of it via FB and am very impressed with his commitment. I've always wanted to follow them and hence last weekend i was back in KL.
It was more of bringing Qayyum as well. I would love to expose him to charity work. With exposure one would understand why the deed is very addictive. Some would do it to show their worth to others but a number would do it quietly. However, for donations sometimes one must publicise galantly as that is how people will know aboutthe programme. I'm always impressed by Malaysian/s generosity.
We went to 2 places. The first a tahfiz centre for boys. The second is the home for numerous young girls aged between 4-6.
Sometimes it would make a person be thankful for what he has after doing such things. I want Qayyum to know how lucky he is in this world. Alhamdulillah, to have what he wants and see how people who longs for what he has.
Alhamdulillah, it was an enjoyable trip. Hopefully I can follow my friend again in the next few weekends im back in KL.

Supersharks Swimming Carnival 2016

My kids are all aquaphilic. They love water. If we were to go for a holiday break, it would be to a waterpark. Thats how much they love to play in the water.
Once a year, their swimming class organization wil hold a local meet for their students. This will be their second year in supersharks. Qayyum is already completed all the levels and currently in their swimming competitive team. The others are still in the various levels to master the technique and being safe in the water.
Only Laikha was not competing

It was a proud moment for me as Qayyum won 1 event in his category. The breast stroke! I was there to witness it and he was certainly fast and the clear cut winner! I'm sure wifey is very proud as well as he has been swimming since the age of 3! Alhamdulillah, it was fun to see them enjoying the competition. Qayyum won 1 gold and 1 bronze. Not bad eih!
                                                            25m Advanced Breast stroke
To me, its not about winning it. I encourage my children to join in so that they know what cempetition is all about. It can be highly stressful but at the same time discipline and motivation. The perseverance is important. Wifey was worried if Mizan would stop half way but from what was evidenced yesterday, he tried his best and completed the race. That is what is more important! Sportsmanship and the will to compete!
I was glad that despite being oncall, i could still be present to support them. Im sure they would appreciate it later in their lives.

Kids and their ramadhan

Alhamdulillah, I am proud that my 3 elder MDQs have succeeded in their full fasting this year. Tak sangka that they managed to breeze it through without any glitch. I must be thankful for wifey who day in day out ensuring the kids are well fed during sahur and iftar. Its not an easy task to wake them up at this age and get them to eat!
I am amazed my Marissa, despite being 6 he pulled through chill je. takde mengada2. haha But knowing her, she has this different inner strength. A strong girl inside out. Qaisya, i guess did it this year due to Marissa. Both are best friends but i do sense a bit of competition amongst them. So far cam ok la tak tau in the future haha Qayyum? Well, he was known to have cheated before but this year i guess he has grown up a bit. I don't know lah if in school he cheats.. haha
The younger 2? haha Well i guess its best for them to wait. Most importantly for them to see all of us doing this ritual everyday and perhaps would remain in their memory banks as a wonderful experience.
All in all, i do not force my kids to fast. Solat is more of priority. Having to coax them for maghrib and isha jemaah is easier at this stage as when they grow bigger,it can be an issue when they can say no. Fasting is not a priority at this age, I even encourage them to discontinue their fast if they are too tired and exhausted. It is a good practice for the soul and one's inner self, to be able to resist all temptations and persevere. An important trait to survive life. I guess fasting in Ramadhan is a good training ground for the young. When they are older, it will not be about training but iman and abiding the fourth pilar of Islam.

Kids in PABKL 2015

I brought the kids to PABKL and i guess this was their first time in the biggest book fair in Malaysia. Honestly, I have not been to one voluntarily for the past 10 years, except a few times when we were brought by the book vendors for UiTM library purposes. This time around, Diagnosis2 team had a book signing session for our fans. Why not bring the kids to see what is happening out out there.
It was jammed packed. I guess this is how it has been for so long that i did not even bother to come and attend. Parking is crap, everything is wrong for the big crowd but nothing beats the atmosphere of 10 thousands of people in the massive crowd! Especially PWTC.. How can you beat the experience in PWTC? This was the first time too there were here, so i brought them to see the potraits of our previous prime ministers.
We had fun.As the kids looked for their own reading materials, as usual Qaisya has always been keen to fill in her inquisitive brain. I wished we could have spent more time and i was thinking of coming again but fate had it that i was to go somewhere else! (will be revealed in the coming post).

Chess NAG 2015 weekend

The commitment by parents is no joke. 3 days of National Age group competition. Dzaeffran participated in the under 10 category. It was the first time for him and for me! Haha This was an opportunity that does not come often. He is fortunate enough to be in the school's elite chess club. SKBJ has a strong tradition in chess and for Dzaeffran to be able to be part of the team is an achievement.
In a way, he represented Chess Club of Selangor to go against other participants from around the country. I was never really involve in the chess scene and it was such an eye opener. This competition is definitely for the top chess players in the country! haha i was jittery too as i don't really know how he would fare. Players looked ready to maul their opponents!  As long as tak last.. my motto.. haha
                                          Papa sent him on Saturday.
The competition was held in Olympic Hotel, right smack in central KL. This used to be the main hotel for our athletes, being in the same vicinity as stadium Merdeka and Negara. Such memories from the past!
                                          Bosan menunggu haha
Dzaeffran played 8 games and won 4. It was clear where he was in the rankings as i could see the level of his gameplay against his opponents.Still,  I don't think i could do what he did in the 3 days. I could see how he can be really focused and at the same time to cool.. haha What i appreciated most was his perseverence despite being at a disadvantage in the game. Memang never die attitude and he'd fight till the end not giving up. Insha Allah, that will be a good trait for him to have in facing his life in the future.
Good job my son.. it was such a pleasure to be by your side watching you :)
